****************, president, of Watchman Roofing accepted a roof and interior water damage repair in August of 2022. At that time **************** met with me in my home and accepted the job. **************** stated he had someone to work with insurance and would try to get my whole roof replaced. This did not happen and I had not heard from him. I contacted his office wanting the work done or refund my money. **************** stated they would get the roof patched and that was completed. Again, I had not heard anything from **************** in a while. Contacted him to request a detailed invoice of cost thus far. **************** advised me when his general manager returned to the office, he would have them do that. I did not recieve anything, call, email, or letter. Again I contacted **************** to advise at this point in time i would just like to get a refund of my remaining money and be done. **************** agreed and would also include detailed invoice. **************** stated the cost was much more than estimated. He stated that my $1000 deductible had already been used and a refund would be significantly small. **************** went on and stated the small roof patch was much more costly than the anount he agreed to from the adjuster. The insurance adjusters appraisal was right at $1395. According to the adjuster quote it was going to cost $619 for the roof and the remaining for the interior. **************** stated he would give me a refund(,signicantly smaller) and an itemized invoice for the roof work accomplished. I have not heard anything since that conversation and truthfully I don't know if I could trust any type of invoice he would produce. I would like to get a refund from the remaining. $1395, minus the $619. I do believe if the roofing cost was that much higher he could have contacted my insurance company or even me to figure this out. I just want my money refunded and be done with Watchman Roofing.Business response

******************* contracted ** August 2022 for a small roof repair and interior repair, as listed in the document provided by *******************. At that time, our service agreement states that we will do the work for the insurance proceeds, and would reserve the right to ask for additional funds should the work exceed proceeds allowed by insurance. We also, at that time, let her know that her roof may be a discontinued shingle and unavailable, if so, insurance may pay for a full replacement. After receiving her deposit and deductible payment, when started to work on the claims process to determine if the shingle was discontinued. This is done by pulling a shingle from the roof and sending it to **** Laboratories. This process cost Watchman Roofing $220. This took us weeks to accomplish, because ******************* was difficult to reach. The **** determined the shingle was still manufactured, and we could find a match. Our Project Consultant over her file attempted for four months to contact ******************* about proceeding with the repair, with no return contact, either by phone call, text, or email. Once we finally were able to make contact and set up and appointment for the roof repair, we were well over six months into the file. Materials increased by that time. Our crew was unable to get inside of the home and that time to complete the interior repair, because ******************* was not home and has a large dog inside. So, we completed the roof repair. The cost incurred was a $750 travel fee and repair fee from our **************** $75 for materials, plus our profit margin of $353, bringing the total to $1,178. We then attempted to contact ******************* to complete the interior work, with no return contact. We moved on to other work until we received an email from ******************* asking for a detailed invoice. At that time the file had to be found. We would then receive another email asking for a refund. At this time I would contact ******************* directly, and explain the situation, and ask if we could come and finish the project, to which she declined. As a contractor we are unable to legally ask for the release of Depreciation or Supplementation without having competed the entirety of the project. But, *******************, as a policyholder, can ask for additional funds to complete the interior portion of the project no that we have been fired from the project. We will refund the $776 out of good faith, and also send notice to her insurance carrier of the refund.Customer response

Watchman Roofing has sent me a refund. The 4 months he stated they tried to contact me, I had one voicemail. I did not respond as I was hospitalized with a serious condition. There was no text, email or handwrittenI request to speak with him. I did speak to **************** after that time in which he told me to tell the insurance company that replacement shingles were not satisfactory. I had not even seen them, so I did not contact insurance. I just wanted the leak stopped. **************** did not seem very motivated to do the interior any time soon. So I asked for a detailed invoice. At this point I was loosing faith in all his statements when we first met. I cannot help that so much was spent on gas. At our first encounter he said all cost with dealing with insurance was totally covered by his company for the benefit of the client. So after much time I lost faith and wanted whatever was left of the money refunded. I just don't know why I was not contacted by him regarding gas cost and labor, when the insurance company said he could make a submission for additional monies as allowed.
