Date: 11/19/22, 10:15-11:15 AM. Needed urgent care for my 90 year-old mother. Referred to this particular location by her audiologist for a 100% blocked ear, also wanted advice on a massive bruise on her R upper arm. Signed in as requested with her name, birthdate, and phone number.Waited an hour. My mother has some dementia, so I endured endless pleas to leave, her discomfort in the very utilitarian chair, statements that she couldn't breathe due to her mask, etc. Finally called into an office, where the first question was regarding her health insurance. *********--she's fully insured. NOT ACCEPTED!!! OMG. Why wasn't this apparently key question asked of us at the very beginning? Why wasn't there signage regarding accepted insurance entities? Seriously, they expect us to wait an hour and THEN tell us they can't help my mom? A simple, 5 second question at the beginning would have saved us much discomfort, time, and gas mileage to a different urgent care center where we again waited over an hour.Where's the compassion and ethical duty to best serve hurting and needy patients? Especially a clearly uncomfortable, struggling, and confused much older adult. Not to mention her daughter (me) who implored her, over and over, to breathe, relax, this wait was expected, don't worry, etc. How could they make us wait and wait and then tell us they couldn't/wouldn't help, when the whole situation could have been eased by asking us at the very beginning about her insurance? I am furious.
