We purchased a fountain from McCammons in ********** in 2023 for $800.95. On the day they installed it, the bowl leaked. We visited the store that very day with our receipt and video. Its been more than six months and they have not replaced it or given us a refund. We are in constant communication, but McCammons employees refuse to honor this basic business transaction. Now we have to continuously look at their broken merchandise, something that was supposed to bring us joy. And, we lost $800. Terrible way to do business and treat a customer.Business response

When the customer purchased the fountain last year, the customer was aware that the fountain had a crack. They put water in it at the store and it did not leak so they purchased the fountain. It was delivered and when set up and water put in it, it leaked. There is not a warranty on fountains. The customer called the store to let them know. They asked if we could order a bigger basin for it. They were told we possibly could, but it could not be ordered till spring shipment. That we could not order just that 1 item. We have offered a in store credit to the customer. They have refused. We ordered a whole new fountain, they have refused. Called customer 5/14/24 to offer to pick up fountain and again give them an instore credit but no answer, so left a voice message.Initial Complaint

We had a new landscaping project completed in November of 21, which came with a 1 year warranty. This project included weed barrier and a new tree and the total cost was $6,500 for everything. As the spring and summer season of 2022 got into swing, we noticed the tree started to look dead and weed growth was getting out of hand. We went to their store late summer around August, sine the warranty was in place and spoke to the manager (******* or *******, she did not provide a card), about our issues and also had some pictures. She stated, yes that doesnt look good and appears they forgot the weed barrier and at that time gave us the CEOs card (*******************) and asked that we e-mail him the pics and explain whats going on. My wife did so and we waited a couple weeks, as we were told it might take a bit with it coming into the close of the season. After 3 weeks and no response, we went back to the store and the manager was on vacation, so we spoke to another employee, who said it really needed to be discussed with the manager and *****. So we patiently waited another week, went back to the store and got the manager, she said ***** said yes the tree is dead, give them another. We asked about the weed barrier, she said she would come by and look and we asked that they plant the replacement tree. We waited another 3 weeks, she didnt come by and no call. We went to the store, as the season is winding down and spoke to the manager and she said, yes, I was getting ready to call you. Since the season is about done, we have you on the books for when we open in 2023 early March and everything is and will be under warranty. We are now mid April and no call and no show. We still have the dead tree and the weeds are out of control already. That size of money was a big chunk for us and we just expect better customer service, communication and for things to be made right, since we did pay in full.Business response

We bought three trees from this business and had them installed. We followed there instructions to the ** About how to care for the trees. But, all three died. They have a one year warrenty. We have contacted the business and the owner several times. While being accused of not carrying for the trees. My yard is full of healthy beautiful plants. We have four other trees from the company that are doing fine. Two newer and two a couple of years old. We have been promised that they would be out several times. Then we was told he did not have enough installers to do the work. Then told to have patience. Then told that we would be scheduled. Weeks have gone by. No contact! No schedule! Our inquiries blown off. I wanted the trees replaced but I now see that probably will not happen. If they want to drag this out I would like a full refund. I don't want trees planted in the winter where caring for them would be a hit and miss situation. I just wanted fair. I paid well over $1200 for the trees and installation. That is not the issue. I trusted them to honor their word that is the issue. We have emails that can be sent if needed along with witnessed face to face conversations with the owner.Initial Complaint

I purchased 32 blue Spruce, paid $2,000 and they were to be planted by McCammons. They planted them in wrong place even though the owner, *****************, came out previously to see where to plant. Took them 2 months to come back and move them. Then they slowly started dying. I went in and talked to ****, he said he would replace them but it would be the following Spring. I went in and I called multiple times, he said he was still working on it. Then covid happened. I went in last Sunday to show him that his guys planted every tree with a nursery bad still around it and the bag says REMOVE BEFORE PLANTING. He was out but we talked to a manager she said she would talk to him and call us the next day. I said what do you think he will do about it. She said the same thing he has been doing which is nothing. Sure enough the next day she called and said **** said he isn't doing anything about it because you are out of warranty. It's out of warranty because of him. They died because they were planted in a thick nursery bag that should have been removed and the roots had no where to go. He told me after that crew planted my trees he fired all of them. Because I purchase from him, planted by him, bags still on is what made them die, he should be 100% responsible. I want a full refund so I can take my business elsewhere.Business response

This customer paid $62.50 for each tree which included install. This was a discounted rate. This purchase occurred in 2019. It did NOT include a one-year warranty which specifically tells each customer, this is a conditional guarantee. Please see blank warranty attached explaining terms. " ********** does not guarantee replacement trees and shrubs. Discounted trees and shrubs are not warranted." This customer was warned not to plant the trees where they decided to plant because there is no access to water. The purchase was discounted, which removes any warranty or guarantee.Customer response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined the response would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Everything this business stated is a lie. The placement of the trees was chosen by me and the owner, *****************. I was NOT warned to not plant them there. $62.50 per 2 foot tree is not a discounted price. **** told me from the beginning that he would replace them but kept saying he was having a hard time getting more of the same tree and he kept dragging his feet. Every time a tree would die, my husband just snapped it at the ground and threw it aside THEN recently my husband started digging up the dead tree and that's when we found a very thick nursery bag around the root ball of the trees. These bags have tags on them that say REMOVE BEFORE PLANTING. That is WHY the trees died. They were root bound in those bags, the roots could not break through those bags so they died. Then last Monday he told his manager to tell us that it's been too long and we are out of warranty and today he says there is no warranty. He is obviously trying to get away with questionable business practices because he has never wanted to do the right thing and is now making up lies to put it on us. We purchased from him, he came here and said where to plant them, they were planted in bags that said REMOVE BEFORE PLANTING, and somehow this is our fault? No. No it's not. It's ALL YOU *****************!

On 5/12/22, we purchased (2) trees from ********** Irish Marker plus we paid additional money to have the trees planted professionally by **********. The delivery/install date was to be 5/17 or 5/18. They did not arrive on the appointed days but after many calls they did arrive on 5/21 when two (2) men arrived with our trees (we had been informed that tree delivery was free) When we questioned about the size of the hole the balled trees were to be placed in, the lead man held his hands about 3-4" apart and stated that the holes would be that much larger than the root ***** of the trees. One root ball was 24" diameter and the other was about 18" diameter. Everything we have read on the internet and our past experience indicated the holes should be a minimum of twice the diameter of the root ball. We requested that the holes be dug according to this and an disagreement began between the lead man and my husband, (including profanity and profane gestures by the installer). He (the installer) stormed off the job without the trees being planted. Afterwards, we went to report to the owner regarding the employee's actions. The owner stated that they do not plant trees as we requested, but rather according to ********************* guidelines (which does in fact state a minimum of twice the diameter of the root ball as contained in the ********** U. fact sheet HYG-1014-97 page 3, paragraph 6, per attachment). He then ordered us off the property and threatened to call the police. I questioned him about a refund for installation and he said he would mail it. Today is 5/27 and no refund has been issued to my credit card nor has any mail been received. I feel that I am due a full refund of planting/installation charges, $140 plus $105 less senior discount of $24.50, totaling $220.50.Business response

We have happily submitted the full refund of $220.50 to the customer. This customer was rude and vulgar to our installation crew as soon as they were on the property. Our crews were instructed by management to leave the customer's property to prevent further escalation. That is when the customers, ***** and husband came into our Greenwood store yelling and being vulgar. They were told a refund would be issued via mail and was asked to leave the property and to never return.
