We put down 100 dollars towards a room for my son at IUPUI. No one told us it wasnt refundable. My son is unable to attend so to financial reasons. Due to the low amount of federal aid. IUPUI tactics are questionable. Somewhat unethical. They are forcing students to pay for housing when they may not even be able to attend.Business response

Thank you for making us aware of this complaint. ***************** is not involved in setting the deposit rules for incoming students, we are merely the "processor" who prepares student billing statements and collects payments. However, we have investigated this complaint with our housing and admissions offices and suggest that the complainant may be confused on the purpose of the $100.00 deposit, because there is no housing deposit charged in that amount. Every incoming undergraduate student is required to pay a $100.00 non-refundable enrollment deposit when they feel certain they are planning to attend IUPUI. This deposit basically "holds the seat" for the new student and confirms their intent to attend in an upcoming semester. The correspondence provided to the prospective student and the admissions website (https://admissions.iupui.edu/enroll/deposit.html) is clear that the deposit is nonrefundable. After speaking with our ****************** they have agreed to refund the deposit to ******************. We will issue the refund and mail the check to the address provided in the complaint.
