We noticed cracked hardi-plank siding on our home. Pulte Homes directed us to the manufacturer, *********************** who agreed to supply the material to replace the cracked boards. Pulte informed us that Tikal Homes had installed the siding and communication began with Tikal on March 24, 2021. They came to our home and after 5 weeks of countless calls and emails to gain information from Tikal with no response, I went to their office to request a meeting. At this meeting *********************** and ******************* said the cracked siding was unusual and offered to replace it out of an "act of good faith", covering installation expenses. With no urgency, the first replacements were done June 18/19. More work was done July 14 but still not completed. As before, I tirelessly called, emailed, and texted Tikal with no response for a month. On Aug 14 I went to their office again but they had moved. I obtained a phone number for the Director of Operations and more replacements were done Aug 24, Sept 3 and 8. During these replacements, original boards were damaged and chipped and broken boards were installed. I sent pictures to *** who agreed the damaged boards needed to be replaced. Yet again, 3 weeks went by trying to contact Tikal. I resorted to calling the Director of Ops again and received a call from ******, the manager. She said there were about 20 boards that were damaged but replaced only 8 boards. They refuse to come back and we still have damaged boards on our home. Tikal performed very poor quality work, damaging our home. Tikal was very unprofessional and unresponsive for weeks at a time. Additionally, this project dragged on for 7 months without completion. Unpainted/unprotected boards have been on our home since June. Painters were originally scheduled for early Aug, but we had to push them back several times waiting for Tikal. Eventually, we had to guarantee painting would be done before winter and went ahead with the painting, even with damaged boards, to protect our home.Business response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined the response would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. We received the response from *********************** with Tikal Homes and we agree that this is not a warranty issue with our original siding. The issue is that on Wednesday, September 8 the Tikal employee/contractor (******) who was at our home either installed chipped, cracked, and/or damaged siding pieces on our home or damaged them during installation. We never ordered or obtained boards from ***********************, nor were any boards ever delivered to our home. The Tikal employee/contractor would always bring the boards with them to do the installations. After work was completed on 9/8/21, I noticed 21 chipped, cracked, and damaged boards on our home. Some of these boards were brand new boards that were installed on our home and other boards were damaged during these spot replacements on 9/8. (You can tell by the color of the boards in the photos because the new boards have no paint on them.) This damage was not previously noted prior to the work done on this day nor were there any prior issues with damage from spot replacements. I texted the photos of the damage to ******************* and he called me right away. He stated that these photos showed damage from the spot replacements and in order to properly fix it, they would need to replace the entire exterior wall on the south side. I tried to contact him, but did not hear back from *** after this phone call.
On September 29, 2021, I started communicating with ***********************. She scheduled ****** to come out and fix the damage and said they would be here most of the day to replace around ***** pieces. On 10/16/21 ****** and one other guy came to the house and were only there for 1.5 hours and only replaced 8 boards. I asked ****** to come out to the house to take a look or send someone out, but no one ever came. At this point, Tikal refused to replace any more of the chipped, cracked, and damaged boards that they installed on our home on 9/8/21. Therefore, we turned to the Better Business Bureau for help.
While we wish that Tikal would properly fix this issue caused by their employees/contractors doing the spot replacements, we are only asking for them to replace the boards that were damaged on 9/8/21. Even after our home was painted in early November, the damage is still noticeable. I am attaching photos that were taken of the damage on 9/8/21 as well as current photos taken on 1/12/22.
Sincerely,
***** and ***********************
