Issue Summary: In December 2022, shortly after paying off the car, problems with the vehicle surfaced. Seeking assistance, the owner contacted a reputable out-of-service company, known from previous dealings, for diagnosis. Due to their limited resources, they recommended taking the car to *****************, where the owner had a repair contract. Consequently, on January 1st, 2023, the car was brought to Andy Mohr Nissan.Andy Mohr Nissan advised that it would take a few days to address the issue and directed the owner to ************************************ in **********. Upon arrival, ************************************ commenced the diagnosis, informing the owner that it might take a couple of days to identify the problem. Over the course of January 2nd to the 16th, the owner received three phone calls detailing the diagnosis progression.Initially, the issue was attributed to the ignition module, but subsequent assessments suggested the need for injector replacement. Following the injector replacement, the diagnosis shifted to a clogged catalytic converter. Throughout this period, intermittent updates were provided, with assurances of completion by January 16th, 2023. However, communication ceased until May 2023.In August, the owner was informed that the engine was the root cause of the problem and that the repair would cost $8000, of which only $800 would be covered by the service contract. Upon visiting *****************, the owner found the car still in poor condition and unable to be driven home, indicating unresolved issues despite the extensive repairs and expenses incurred.

They replaced the compressor on February 1,2023 and when the weather changed I decided to use it and there was no cold air so I called them in August 2023 to inform them that it wasnt working and was given an appointment for the 14th. I took it in and was told there was no antifreeze and needed to be repaired which they wanted $599.93 more after spending $1568 already . Please help they are really trying to rip elderly people or whom ever they can off. To me that shouldve been done when they put the new compressor in.

Mrs. **** towed  her 2008 Nissan Versa into our shop on 2/1/2023 with a complaint of "No start customer thinks alternator may have issues" Upon diagnosing out technician found that her air conditioning compressor was locked up (the pulley was not turning) which does not allow  the belt to rotate. At this time we called Mrs. **** advised her of what we had found and she authorized the repair. Mrs. **** picked up her vehicle when we finished replacing the air conditioning compressor. On 8/21/23 Mrs. **** brought her vehicle in stating "A/C was inoperative and we had replaced her compressor" Upon ************** performing the diagnostic procedure we found that the A/C was not working because all of the freon had leaked out due to having two o-rings from the condensor fail. We called Mrs. **** with our diagnostic findings and she declined having these repairs made. Mrs. **** then came picked up her vehicle. Please note as a goodwill gesture we did not charge Mrs. **** for the diagnostic work on 8/21/23 ($160.00). We certainly feel badly for Mrs. ***** however these two repairs are not related to each other, on Mrs. **** visit on 2/1/23 we were not addressing an air conditioning concern we addressed a not starting condition and did not perform  diagnostic work for the A/C system.

In response to the report from Andy Mohr Nissans reply to my complaint I feel that common sense would tell you when you put in a new compressor along with antifreeze you would want to seal it from leaking out in the original bill instead of you trying to get more money of $599.91 to go back in and say youre that doing something just to get more money. This is insane. As for as the diagnostic test just in May it was $80 now youre saying its $160 what kind of business is this?

As we explained previously the A/C compressor and the A/C condensor (the failed parts are rubber orings) are two totally different parts, we have no control if and when other parts fail. A/C diagnostic work where the system has to be charged with freon to find any leaks is $160.00 which you were not charged. You paid $80.00 in February because it was for a no starting condition not an A/C concern. Your A/C compressor has a 12 month or ****** mile warranty from the manufacture should it have a failure in that time frame then it would be covered, but it only covers that component not the entire A/C system.

************ purchased a 2018 ******* Elantra on 1/9/23.  She was experiencing an issue with what is believed to be her water pump the week of 2/13/23.  My Sales Manager and Service Advisor had conversations regarding this issue.  At this point, ************ was not satisfied with the communication.  I became aware of this issue on 2/18/23 and have reached out to ************ to re-open the line of communication and to try and resolve the issue.  We had a great conversation and have laid out what our next steps are going to be regarding her financed vehicle.  Her vehicle is in a shop getting the water pump replaced.  I have promised ************ that upon completion of the repair, I will have my service department re-inspect the vehicle to assure it is mechanically sound at the time of inspection.  I will be following up with her on 2/22/23 to set up a time for us to inspect the vehicle, which at that time the water pump repair will be completed.  I spoke to her about the structure of the deal as well and we have determined that there was a lack of communication regarding the ******************* has since been resolved and ************ would like to keep the ******* Elantra.  The goal of Andy Mohr Nissan will be to ensure the vehicle she purchased is mechanically sound moving forward and to provide her with a peace of mind regarding her purchase.  Respectfully

Customer purchased a 2013 Dodge Avenger on 2/28/2022.  The vehicle was purchased with ******* miles AS-IS.  I am providing a signed AS-IS document for your review.  When I, the general manager was notified of this issue in May of 2022 I promptly informed the customer that we are sorry this has happened and I would gladly diagnose the issue if she were to get it towed into the dealership at no charge.  She agreed and had it towed in, which we diagnosed the engine needed replaced on 5/13/2022.  During the inspection, the technician realized that the issue derived from a broken radiator hose ****** which caused the vehicle to overheat due to continued driving which resulted in engine failure.  Andy Mohr Nissan, completed a safety inspection on the vehicle prior to the sale of the vehicle.  This is an unfortunate event, Andy Mohr Nissan was not at fault due to the engine failure.  I am providing documentation of a signed AS-IS form signed by the customer, an inspection prior to the sale of the vehicle, and the inspection when the vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure.  Respectfully, ********************* - General Manager.

While I do not feel as if Andy Mohr Nissan is in any way wrong with this complaint concerning the purchase of an AS-IS vehicle, the dealership also understands the need to assist in resolving issues with our customers.  The vehicle was a high mileage vehicle that did not have engine issues at the time of sale.  The vehicle was driven hot due to a leak in the radiator hose that compounded the issue.  With that said, Andy Mohr Nissan is willing to provide trade-in value up to 3k to assist the customer in upgrading their vehicle.  Although, we currently do not have 3k vehicles for sale, we can provide this trade-in value to assist in financing of a lower mileage vehicle, later model, and much more dependable then the high mileage vehicle originally purchased.  Respectfully, ********************* - General Manager

Transaction date 5/25/2021 Check engine light came on 6/16/21 Car goes into *** shop on 6/21/21. $598.01 service to an accident that had occurred before the purchase which the dealership did not mention. I asked before purchase if there had been damage to it and if it had been inspected, they said no damage found during inspection. *** told me that the damage to the radiator would have triggered the check engine light every time. They said this check engine light would have been reset prior to the sale. The salesperson "Anil" would not respond to me. Both managers agreed to help take care of me as "this is not what they do, sell cars with damage to them without disclosing that info to the customer." I would like the dealership to reimburse the service performed as they reset the check engine light and sold the car without disclosing the accident after I asked multiple times over the phone and through text.

      Business response

      09/02/2021

I have reviewed the complaint regarding previous damage to the vehicle prior to purchase.  This vehicle was located at another ***************** dealership and was transferred to the Nissan location at the time the vehicle was sold.  I have reviewed the inspection report from ********************************************* with no notification on a check engine light on at the time of inspection.  We do a multi-point inspection on each vehicle that is purchased for resale.  Although we look for pre-existing damage on the vehicles with that inspection, there was nothing in the inspection report that showed any damage to the radiator, nor a check engine light that would point the technician to a direction of damage to the radiator.  There is also a gap between 5/24/2021 - 6/16/2021.  I am providing a copy of the inspection report for review, at this time the dealership does not feel we are responsible for re-imbursement on this issue.  The reasoning behind this is the review of our inspection did not reflect a check engine light, and the time gap from when the vehicle was purchased and the date the customer stated the check engine light came one.  Respectfully, ********************* - General Manager
