Arrived at the business on June 28th to repair a poor spay suture (by their sister location: All Pet Healthcare by ****'s 5 hours prior). They found what looked like an infection starting to set in and "treated" the area, but did not take any cultures to determine if the prescribed antibiotics would be effective. They also chose to just use glue to fix up the outer incision (when it obviously didn't work very well the first time and it was a 5 or 6 inch incision). 5 days later she got loose on her leash crashed into me and split open her outer incision. We took her back to the same place and had some concerning interactions with a few of the vet techs where they tried to grab her leash and **** her out from under the bench she was cowering under trying to get an e-collar on her. After telling her that she was highly anxious when she had it on, she stated that they had some patients that they would give ********* and that usually mellowed them out enough to not need a cone (which she was on). We wanted to go elsewhere, but all emergency vets were at capacity, so we stuck around for an estimate. We were given an estimate of $1200-$1800 on the safe side and $2400-$4200 worst case and used (in my opinion) predatory language of potential sepsis and death if we did not leave her there, but that she was perfectly stable and would have to wait 8+ hours to be seen (it was 11PM). We elected to take her to another emergency vet the next morning and received an estimate of $700-$900. Once they got into the incision they found an abscess that had formed. This increased the cost to roughly $5000. The abscess was removed (and a culture was taken) and the outer wound was stapled shut. She is now okay, but now I'm stuck with a $5000 bill for what should have been a routine procedure. They are claiming that it is my problem for "lack of using an elizabethan collar and Snow Boots increased activlty level" when a vet tech told us we were okay and she was on leash at all times.
