Called dealer, our truck was shifting hard and jerking all symptoms of the transmission. The shop manager called, stated the mechanic drove the truck, knew exactly what the issue was, quoted $1400 parts and labor under the truck, nothing to do with the transmission. After picking the truck up, it continued to do the same thing. I called and told them we would be bringing the truck back after returning from vacation, we had only driven a handful of times approximately 50 miles. The transmission did indeed go out prior to taking it back, it would not move in drive , I called Sternberg’s told them the transmission went out, we would need it towed. Upon receiving the truck in the shop, without asking they changed a line, because they did not believe it was the transmission, this of course didn’t fix it. They did utilize the computer to diagnose this time, which is why we took there to begin with, it showed transmission issues. I spoke with service manager multiple time to voice my frustration not only because of the unnecessary tow bill had this been fixed properly the 1st time, but the other unnecessary parts, that did nothing to fix the problem. The last of about 6 calls he said they did diagnose with computer the 1st time, but did not write it down, charge for it or mention it. The service manager says it didn’t code the 1st time, I find that hard to believe as it had the same symptom the entire time. So here we are, paying around $2000 and no transmission. A dealers service department should be dependable and have integrity. Also, the service manager said when we called for the tow truck he would discount the tow charge, he also said he would discount the 4 hours of labor for the last unnecessary encounter, that did not happen either.

On Jan. 25 2022, I took my 2005 Dakota to Sternbergs and requested they do electrical diagnostics. They did so and gave me a invoice for $123.05 which I promptly paid. They also gave me a quote for fixing the problem which totaled $512.20 for a PCM module. I reminded them that I had already replaced that and I did not think that was the problem but they assured me it was. I told them the one I originally took out was in the back seat and suggested they check it and the replacement before ordering a new one. I then said, if you are sure that is the problem, then go ahead with the repair. On Jan. 26, I get a call from a guy named **** saying they could not get the from where they originally planned but would have to order it out of Texas and the cost for repairs would now be $780. Ireminded **** of my original statement that I did not think that was the problem but if they were sure it was, then go ahead.. Then, on January 31, I get a call from a guy named **** at Sternbergs saying that the module was not the problem. I said "let me talk to ****" to which he replied "**** retired. During all this I had asked to talk to the service manager serval times, but was denied. **** then said I could talk to the mechanic named ****. So, **** said he can"t find the problem and he would have to start replacing parts until he found it and he suggest I just drive it as is, so I ask him to switch mw back to **** and I tell **** I am taking ***** advice and will pick it up. I went to pick it up February 2. I walked in to get the keys and some guy, maybe ****, comes with an invoice. He says, he is charging me an additional $150. for labor and I said OK and then he says an additional $550. for the part. I said no. I reminded him that they should not order the part unless they were sure. I then see the service manager and decline to pay. I ask for the invoice and my keys and he refuses to give me either one I LEAVE WITHOUT MY TRUCK o
