On April 14, 2023 I bought a 2015 jeep Cherokee sport from True Worth Auto in kokomo Indiana. They were paid in full by a bank issued check. On April 15, 2023. I totaled the vehicle out one day after purchase I had insurance on it full coverage. Now today is June 6, 2023 and I still have not received the title. The agreement we had in writing was they had 31 days to produce the title. I have been very patient with them and *** contacted them 5 to 6 times over the past couple months getting the runaround each time that they do not have the title because their whole seller needs a signature on it, now I am incurring interest charges from my bank for the loan which if they produce a title I am just out that money as of now. Today I finally decided to contact the attorney generals office, and now the Better Business Bureau. I would like to get this title that I was promised long ago and if not my money back because it is not my fault, they sold a vehicle without a title.

Purchased a car through tru worth and the extended warranty as well to ensure the vehicle was covered. Within 3 months the car was overheating and I had it towed to the dealership per the warranty company. They told me that I needed an engine replacement and that the warranty company wasnt covering it because I failed to change the oil even though I hadnt driven it 7k miles. ****** I signed the dotted line they assured me that the car had a complete overhaul on mechanics and I shouldnt have any problems but had to have them replace the coolant overflow. After the car was towed they told me that they would pay 50% of the cost. They told me if I were to contact a lawyer they would stop all communication with me. They ignored my phone calls and not returned my messages. I have contacted the attorney general on the matter and havent heard anything thus far. I just want the issue resolved and the car loan paid in full for faulty products and false advertisement.

      In regards to ***********************:

***** purchased a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze from TruWorth on November 6th, 2021.  The vehicle was sold as-is from TruWorth and she opted to purchase an extended service contract through U.S. Warranty (attached).  Sometime during March 2022, she brought the vehicle to our service department for an overheating issue.  U.S. ******** sent a claims inspector and denied her claim due to negligence on her part for continuing to drive the vehicle after it was overheating due to low coolant.  She requested a second opinion and U.S. Warranty sent a second inspector her confirmed the engine damage was not covered due to the circumstances.  We did complete labor to disassemble the engine for inspection per the warranty company's request and chose not to bill **************** for those charges.  The vehicle sat in our service department until it was eventually repossessed by Community Wide FCU due to non-payment by *****************  Our service director at the time is no longer with the company and not available for comment.  Any issues for the claim being denied would need to be taken up with the service contract provider.

      Thank you,

I got a vehicle from them august 7th. September 3rd it was taken, I ended up calling the car company they told me they was unsure why it was taken because nothing was in my file. I called my financial company only to find out I don’t have a account with them and when I told them the car they said it was still on the lot, so I needed to wait until Tuesday to speak with someone because the holiday. My car was repoed and tru worth auto the one who sent it out because they said they bank wouldn’t pay for the car and they put the repo out on august 13th and never contacted me about anything. So I put 3800 down for a car that I wasn’t supposed to have that I was never approved for and not they telling me I can’t get my money back but gave me the whole run around when they new what happened to my car that Friday since they put the repo out. They took advantage of me. Now I have to miss work and maybe lose my job over something they should have handled differently and professionally

      Hi Kaysey Craig,

In response to the complaint filed by Jasmine Long toward TruWorth Auto.   We are in business to sell cars to customers as seamlessly as possible.  Jasmine Long did visit our location in Kokomo on 8/7/21 and purchased a Lincoln MKX.   She did not represent her employer correctly and we could not verify her employment.   In fact, she went to a third party service on the internet and intentionally misrepresented her employer by fraudulently producing paystubs.   She did not dispute this fact during our conversations.  This came to the attention of the lender, Westlake Financial, who would not lend to someone who intentionally provides fraudulent paperwork on their application.

We have spoken to Jasmine Long at least five times during the week of September 6 trying to rectify the situation and allowing her to find another lender for this vehicle.   I told her I would work with her to assist her with the repossession charges if she could get another lender.   TruWorth had already tried to find another lender for her but based on credit history we could not.

TruWorth has accumulated over $950 in repossession charges, tow fees, and replacement keys along with new diagnostic fees and clean up fees for this vehicle that have yet to be applied.   We also have a signed contract that shows if a customer misrepresents themselves and we have to recover the vehicle TruWorth is entitled to up to $100 per day that the customer has the vehicle.

Jasmine Long has not returned my three calls from Sept 13, 14, and 15th try see what else we can do for her.   She also had spoken with the recovery service a few times and scheduled a time to get her possessions and did to keep her appointment time.

At this point the accumulated costs are over $4150 and we will not pursue her for the additional amount owed to TruWorth.

      Regards,

      Customer response

      09/27/2021

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 15843329, and have determined the response would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I inquired about a 2016 Lincoln MKX black label on 8-5-2021 from Truworth Auto. My salesman I believe his name is Jason contacted me about the vehicle 8-6-2021 and we text about it all day. He told me I was approved for the vehicle and I made it clear that I was traveling about 1 hour and 30 to 45 mins away that I need to be 100percent approved because I don’t want any surprises once I arrive. So he told me I needed 2 recent paystubs, I only had one at the moment he said that was fine to send it over. I sent it through the text messages and he said he will get back with me in about 30 mins to let me know the final decision. He responds back that I was approved and I can come pick up the vehicle. I had to pay $5000 down and my payments would be $475 a month which I was okay with because I wanted to stay under a $500 monthly payment. He then text me and said another customer was in there looking at the car and he would let me know if it sales or not. It did and he told me that the had a 2016 white Lincoln MKX reserve. I wasn’t interested because I told him how can he sale a car that me and him talked about and I told him I was on my way to pick up. That should have been the first red flag. So I never respond and he kept texting me about the other Lincoln MKX and he said that his manager said I can put less money down but my monthly payments would be higher so I asked him how much. He told me his manger said I can put $3800 down and my monthly payments would be $497 so I said okay I will be to get it. I went to pick up the car on 8-7-2021 and everything was okay. I test drove the car,  gave him my $3800 and signed my paperwork, he told me my bank was Westlake and they will send me a welcoming package, met the manger and was out the door. It was a quick process. Everything was cool up until 9-3-2021 when I got home and my car wasn’t there so I thought someone stole it. I call TruWorth and spoke with my salesman and he informed me he’s unsure why its not at my address because everything was fine and that I needed to contact the bank. I call the bank and I didn’t have a account so when I gave them the car information they told me I never had a account with them and from their records that vehicle is still on TruWorth lot. I was shocked because I knew that wasn’t true because I had the vehicle up until that day. So I had TruWorth Auto back and anardd told them what the bank had told me and they said they were closing and that I needed to call back 9-7-2021 to talk to Bill or Sue because it was the weekend and also labor day so I was even more pissed off. I called the police to report it stolen and my insurance and the police told me my car had been towed. Oh yeah I was pissed at this point because I talk to the car lot twice and neither time they told me my stuff had got repoed. So I went the whole weekend with no car and also had to miss work. So I called on 9-7-2021 talk to bill and he said that the bank couldn’t verify my check stubs and that it looked like it was from a third party website so basically I need to write them a check for around 23,000 or find my own bank. I had explain the situation to bill about if I wasn’t approved then I shouldn’t have ever drover off that lot with the car, gave them my money or paid for high insurance to leave the lot, nothing. And he goes on to tell me stuff that I knew wasn’t sure because like I explain to him you know within 30mins. So I told him since it was never approved that I wanted my money back. That’s when he said they charge $100 a day for the car, which they never told me that when they went over my paperwork. And I told him I wanted it back. He knew I was very upset and he was calm and said I needed to talk top the manager at the KoKomo location. I called him and he was a complete dick about the whole situation, being rude, hanging up on me and everything. When all I wanted was my money back. They kept trying to blame it on my “fake” paystubs and like I told them if they were then you would have known that the first day before I even came in town to get the car. They knew they was going to rip me off anyways because the bank said they never approved me from day one. So when I contacted Indiana recovery the told me that the had word to repo my car on 8-13-2021 by TruWorth Auto meaning the whole time I was speaking with them they knew what was going on with my car and never told me. They never tried to contact me and ask me to send over new paystubs, bring the car back, or try to reach out to me at any point once they contacted Indiana Recovery to pick up my vehicle and all this could have been avoided but they knew they was going to try to get close to the 38 days so they can try to charge me $100 and take my $3800 and use that as a excuse. About a week or 2 later I contacted them asking what was the full amount I owe so that I can get my car back and the told me about $23,000  so he was okay with that because I was cutting them a check. After I gave it deep thought and thought back on how they tried to play with the whole situation I no longer wanted to give them my money. Yes I did not return Bill phone calls on September 13th, 14th, and 15thbecause he was only reaching out so that he can find out when my appointment was with my bank so they could wire them the money. Not to see Yes he did agree to pay the towing fees but at that point is wasn’t much about that could have been avoided if they had reached out and informed me on the situation back in September, same thing with me having  both sets of keys to the car. I did however miss my first appointment with me picking up my belongings out of the car because I couldn’t get off work in time. And him saying they have to pay cleaning fees etc is a lie because I only had the car not even a full month and its not trashed. Yes I have all my things in there but its not like he has to get it details because of stains or other things. This whole car lot is a rip off and I just want my money back.

      Regards,

      Jasmine Long
