Burgess Plant and Seed/Gurney/EBurgess should not be in business. THE most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. On 5-21-23, I looked at the online catalog for Burgess Plant and Seed. I found a Crimson Rose and a Yellow Rose that I wanted. The catalog showed that both roses were in stock and ready for shipment. I immediately ordered both and paid with my credit card. Burgess advised at that time, that the items would arrive at my home between 6-5-23 and 6-9-23. On 6-10-23, I got on the Burgess website and checked my order. My order said that the items were available for shipping with an estimated shipping date between 6-12-23 and 6-17-23. I went onto my credit card account and saw that Burgess had debited my account for $58.18 on 5-23-23. On 6-12-23, I got on the Burgess website and found that the items were still available but the shipping date had changed. The new estimated shipping date was 6-13-23 to 6-18-23. On 6-13-23, I checked the website again and found that the items were still available with an estimated shipping date of 6-14-23 to 6-19-23. On 6-16-23, I thought I’d check my order status on the Burgess website and was surprised. The order number didn’t show the roses on the order. The only thing on the order was “Sweet Corn Honey ‘N’ Pearl Hybrid Kit” and it had been cancelled. I tried to get information on why the shipment was cancelled and why I was not notified by email. I was not able to get that information. It shows a severe lack of customer service to tell a customer that an item will be shipped and never ship it and ultimately cancel the order without telling to customer. At this time, my credit card has not been refunded. I will be posting this message on each and every “Review” website I can find. Burgess/Gurney should not be in business with the work ethic they have.Review from Mary L

BEWARE!!! The worst plant supplier ever. The Butterfly bush plants shipped were dry in 2" pots of loose soil which was spilled in the box. The plastic mailing material was so tough to get off, some of the plants were damaged, unavoidably, in unpacking. Later in emails they were referred to as bare root plants. Nonsense! They were supposed to be legitimate butterfly bushes which are not sent (by reputable companies) bareroot. They arrived half dead and were completely dead within one to two days. Replacement plants were sent which also were dead within a day. Out of six ordered and replacements, I have a single plant living and one I am nursing. I believe something around 9 plants have arrived and died within a day. When I finally requested a refund, not wanting to waste anymore time with their sub par plants and shipping, they have issued a credit certificate to be used only on their website. Why would I want to get back on the dead plant merry-go-round? Their "free bonus" plant died, and two out of five of another group died. Avoid this and the related companies at all cost!!!Review from Danny K

This so-called business doesn’t deserve even a one star rating. I Ordered 8 dogwood trees in July 2022 which according to their catalog were on sale 8/$16.99. Received 2 trees on 11/5/22 with no mention of sending the remaining 6. Also ordered 4 clematis plants in the spring & took a long time to receive; 2 of the plants died soon after planting in the ground. No response from this company. I’ll take my losses & never buy anything from Burgess again.Review from Jeff B

BURGESS DOESN'T EVEN DESERVE 1 STAR. I ORDERED $75 OF PLANTS. THEY WERE ALL DEAD. NOT EVEN AN ATTEMPT TO GROW. THEN THEY REFUSED A REFUND. THEY DID DO A STORE CREDIT...LIKE I WOULD WASTE ANOTHER ENTIRE LANSCAPING GROWING SEASON ON MORE DEAD PLANTS.SHAME ON THEM, TAKING ADVANTAGE OF A SENIOR CITIZEN.Burgess Seed & Plant Company Response

Worst company ever, bunch of thieves. Months to receive orders, and when they finally show up, they are **** and on death row. 3 month wait on Thailand Giant elephant bulbs, what a joke, they didn’t even send a bulb, just some tiny roots, Stay far away from this company, I have nothing good to say about it!!!!!Burgess Seed & Plant Company Response

Can't leave a negative review. They are thieves nothing less. I ordered over $300 stuff and they failed to send allbut the seeds. Asked for a refund and they sent a gift check for them selves once more only reciving seeds. Ordered $125 of trees never recived, sent me yet another gift check but for a whole $23.72. Customer service isnt even in the counrt- they have no clue what they are doing; but more then happy to stealyour money.Burgess Seed & Plant Company Response

Thank you for your correspondence, I apologize, Burgess was purchased by Gardens Alive in January 2022, and we did not receive any funds from orders placed in 2021. While we are issuing goodwill replacement credit for items purchased, we are unable to issue any refunds for any money paid to Burgess prior to them joining our family of brands.Review from Tori O.

DO NOT ORDER FROM BURGESS SEED & PLANT COMPANY. I placed an order in March. They sent a stick, that supposedly is an apricot tree. I planted it right away as per the instructions. Its now June and its still a stick. The blueberry top hat **** died a month after. They rest of my order never shipped. The date was pushed more than a handful of times. I sent an email requesting a fulfillment date. An automatic email was generated that someone would contact me. No one ever did. I sent another email to cancel the order and refund amount. Of course that one was answered almost immediately with cancelled and refunded will apply in 3-5 business days. Do yourself a favor and avoid the headache by ordering elsewhere.Burgess Seed & Plant Company Response
