My wife and I purchased a tombstone from A & K Monument for over $5,000.00. Included in the price was the cost of manufacturing the stone, installation of a foundation to mount it on, and placement of the stone when it was finished. After the stone was finished, A & K then hired a subcontractor to install the foundation. A cemetery employee installed flags to **** where the foundation was to be installed on the plot of land we owned in that cemetery. (We have photos to prove that) However, the subcontractor A & K hired disreguarded those flags, installed his own wooden stakes in an area not owned by us and poured the concrete in the wrong location. My wife and I visited the cemetery before the stone was installed and found the problem and reported it. A & K has said: "This is not our fault, but of course it is our responsibility to make sure all is correct." They have also said: "The plans have been in place to remove the concrete and install the new foundation, but the typical lead time on having a foundation done is 6 weeks or so, and we look forward to installing your monument once all has been done." Hence the words - "6 weeks or so." "Or so" could mean a month, 3 months, 6 months or a year. My wife and I have given A & K until the end of June 2022 to fix all this or we will take legal action against them.

The job has been completed. Customer notified and they have went to visit the time purchased by them from my company. His reply is as follows. I can be reached at ************ if there is any additional follow *** I need to do

      *****,

I got your message on 6/28/22.  My wife and I went to take a look today.  The footer is in the correct location now and the stone looks good.
I got the impression ***** was giving me the run around, that's why I gave her a deadline and filed with the BBB.  A word of advise - I was a General Contractor from 1988 - 2002 and had many employees.  At first, we used subs.  They would show up late or not show up at all and would do poor work.  The customer would always say: "I hired you, not them!"  I, in turn, got all the licenses I needed for electrical, plumbing, etc. and the problem stopped because I could control it.  If the BBB contacts me I will say it is settled.
