We had hail damage from a storm in June. We contracted FS Exteriors to do the roof replacement for the insurance scope. (See attached contract). We had several issues with the work during the install. 1. The gutter apron was the wrong color. We made them aware right when they installed the gutter apron so it would be easy to fix. They continued working and installed the shingles over it making it harder to replace. They claimed they would fix later by pulling it out and putting on the correct color. 2. They then proceeded to tear up siding, but left it exposed for over a month after installing the roof with no communication of a fix date. After that, they came back almost a month later to fix the gutter apron. They installed almond gutter apron over the existing white drip apron. Not only was that not what we agreed to but it was not done at all to code. Indiana code requires every 12" and flat nail heads. I found most places between 40"-80". I made them aware and they came back again to fix it correctly and told me that it was. It was not. They made it appear they fixed it but after I inspected they did partial work and it was not nailed correctly and now the shingles had rips in them from their work. I contacted them and gave them a chance to fix finally. When they showed up that day, I was sent a message saying they get all the overhead and profit from the completely insurance scope; Windows, Roof, Gutters, Garage Door, Other various items. They had mentioned during the roof install they wanted to do other projects but I told them I did not want to proceed with anything else and that we only signed a roof contract. They are asking for over $9000 over the roof insurance price They have sent me an invoice of the roof but have gone over the insurance price as well. I am willing to pay the insurance approved price but ideally, I would take back a couple thousand and release them from the roof warranty because I do not trust them to honor it.Business response

We we're contacted by *** ********* for Hail damage to the property, after we inspected the property, we found that they had Hail damage on the roof, as well as Hail damage to the metals on the house. Our salesman explained that our company works through the insurance company to try to get the approval for the damages from any hail or windstorms. To our understanding the agreement was signed to perform the work that would be approved, *** *** **** ********* understood the agreement differently. We discussed the misunderstanding with *** *** **** *********, we were able to resolve the matter in regard to the invoice and the understanding of the agreement signed. We would only be in charge of the replacement of the roof.
In regard to the issues with the roof, we were able to fix the mistakes made and to the satisfaction of the customer. The warranty is only provided to us from the manufacturer as we wouldn't be the ones in charge in case of any manufacturer defect. We do apologize for the inconvenience, and we are glad we were able to resolve the issue.
