I’ve been a member of Heritage Federal Credit Union going on 30 yrs. I’m having an issue with Heritage NOT rewarding the appropriate amount of money when I followed the rules on the reward checking account. I recently opened a reward checking account through this bank. I was told I had to make 12 transactions, digital banking login and E-Statements all to be completed within the month. I made my 10 transactions, but this bank will only let you make 10 transactions in a day. So that means I have to go back to the store to make the remaining 2 transactions on another day. I went on March 31, 2024 to complete my last 2 transactions. Heritage is declining my reward, since my transaction didn’t go through till 4/1/24. I feel this is NOT MY RESPONSIBILITY, since they only allow 10 transactions a day. Plus the transactions were purchased on 3/31/24. I’ve sent 3 emails and made 2 phone calls and actually drove to Hertiage. I spoke with Branch manager **** *******. I informed her of the situation and showed her proof of my receipts. She informed me that it would have to go to CEO of Heritage to make the decision of reimbursement of the money correction. I would the BBB to help me contact Heritage. I feel this bank is false advertising their reward checking accounts. Plus Liberty bank doesn’t have an issues with their reward checking. I completed the same with that bank and my reward went through properly.

I deposited $100 cash into the branch ATM. I did not get an option for a receipt and it did not show up in my account. I immediately went inside of the branch and talked to workers. They assisted me in filing a dispute and assured me that this is not the first time that it has happened. They advised to never deposit cash into an ATM. I explained that I am a full time student and that I work full time and it is what is convenient but that I would t do it anymore. The $100 was credited to my account. A little over a month later, the dispute was closed and they withdrew the $100. I contacted the bank and did not receive a return call. I went back to that branch and the worker made a joke that well it’s not very convenient for you now is it. I found this to be very unprofessional and that I was disregarded. I asked what my options were and if they could review security footage to back up my claim due to having a close time and date to search. They again took my name, account number, and phone number. The only advice I received was to not use the ATM for deposits. If this is a known issue, why are the users not made aware? This is a significant amount of money to just be in limbo. Friends have suggested filing a police report. I am still waiting to hear from the credit union.

Heritage federal apparently moved my loan due date to the 23rd of the month but it was due on the 15th of every month and that accrued interest which made my auto loan mature and left a balance. I was not made aware of this, they basically stole money from me by sneaking interest out of me. Okay, I accepted that. It was dirty what they did but whatever. I talked to the lady, ***** ******* on 12/1/22 about the balance as we are trying to close on a house and the car loan was showing up funny. They said my loan matured in October but they continued to take the original car note out on the 23 of October and the 23 of November. I told the woman, ***** ******* that I would pay the full balance on 12/15 and pay it off. She accepted that and gave me the payoff amount. Even after taking the car payment out of my account automatically every month, they turned my credit in as delinquent over 30 days on the same day- 12/1/2022- that I talked to ***** and gave a date to pay it in full. Reported it as delinquent 30 days even though they just took a payment 7 days prior and have every single month on the same exact day. I have never been delinquent. They dropped my credit 46 points for absolutely no reason except to be petty and ruin people's lives. They took the payments so how could it be delinquent? I hasn't gave a date to pay it off in full even though they were taking payments. That's not delinquent.

      Business response

      01/02/2023

Business Response It was determined the reason a remaining balance was left on the loan after maturity was due to forced placed insurance, not remaining interest balances. According to our member, they were unaware forced placed insurance was added to the loan, even though records indicate several letters were mailed to the existing address attempting to obtain the required insurance. A call was made to the member explaining what the balance was from and why it was still showing so much post maturity of the loan. The member provided the necessary insurance information and stated they had provided insurance information to the Heritage Federal Credit Union (HFCU) Lending Resolutions department prior to this call, but records could not be located within HFCU's systems of this conversation. Nevertheless, a decision was made by HFCU to side with the member and work with the insurance vendor to provide a reimbursement of this forced placed insurance expense. This reimbursement will cover the full payoff and close the loan. In addition, a credit report correction will be made with the reporting agencies to correct the late payment currently listed on the members credit report. The member was contacted on December 7th with the results of our investigation and the planned correction for the loan payoff, as well as the correction to the member's credit report. The response from the member was positive. This issue appears to be resolved appropriately and the member is satisfied with the result.
