Hired Tip Top Lawns on Oct 21, 2021 to perform grading, removal of mulch, add necessary soil, prepare and install grass seed. Then install blend seed, fertilizer and straw. This was to be done for Back, side and Front yard. After the work was completed in Oct, we notified ***** that we had concerns about standing water in the same areas we had before. He promptly responded, Its a normal process with fresh grade to ground. That was from the ground being compacted with the finish grade. Give time for the seed to germinate to allow for proper drainage. Well access in spring if it doesnt fix itself. We contacted ***** late March 2022 per his direction, to schedule a time to return as we had minimal grass and still had standing water. He responded & came out on April 13, 2022. He explained that in about two weeks he would come out and re-grade, move gravel, use the slit seeder, add fill dirt, topsoil and straw. Per a follow-up message to ********** discussion with Ethan ****** was out of town and had his son call me) ***** was aware of the grading concerns and would bring dirt needed to rectify the situation. ***** and the team arrived on May 10th and worked approximately 40 minutes. While it appears some gravel was moved, some slit seeding was done (ground was dry and hard saw very few tracks of the slit seeder), and small about of dirt and gravel was moved, the re-grading was not completed in the two water pooling areas nor was any fill dirt, topsoil (if used it was very minimal) or straw added. On May 10, 2022 just after ***** left, I texted and left three voicemails about my concerns for ***** / Tip Top Lawns, but never received a call back. I followed up with an e-mail, and received a response stating the work was done - I responded with details on how it wasn't. Today is May 19th, we still have standing water, no signs of grass growth and gravel in the yard.

After initial work was completed in October 2021, we went back out on November 6, 2021 to re-seed areas of concerns.

***** met with ***** and **** on April 13th to discuss in detail the procedure he would do free of charge to fix the areas that did not germinate during the initial services on October 21st.  He explained in detail the procedure of the slicing and seeding (Slit seeding utilizes a special machine known as a slit seeder that literally slits the ground and drops seeds in the cracks to give them deeper contact with the soil, ensures better growth, and protects from the elements, birds and other animals)  which produces an effective outcome. While he met with them, he also discussed that he would bring up elevations (depressions) caused by the gutters and also on the side of the pool where the water pump on pool cover was shooting water onto the virgin soil.

Upon arrival on May 10, 2022, ***** walked the property with **** again discussing what procedures he would be doing before he began and informed him that I (****) would send a watering plan via email when he was finished. Every part of the affected initial pool grade, finish grade and the seed/straw process was slit seeded May 10, 2022, including the areas he added soil, to integrate a high-quality seed with fertilizer at no charge. He also tapered out the "residual" area between the fence they had installed after our work was completed in October and their neighbor when **** asked him to do that as well on May 10, 2022. Watering plan was sent via email to you them upon completion in October (it was attached to the invoice) as well as May 10, 2022. We completed all work from the initial estimate including additional work that was requested during the service on October 21st, coming out again on Saturday, November 6 2021 to add seed to the areas they were concerned about due to straw blowing away during a thunderstorm and again May 10 2022 to fix the areas that did not germinate. Our services have been completed per our original Estimate which the customers agreed upon.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined the response would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The response from Tip Top Lawns is not acceptable.  While Tip Top Lawns (***** and team) may have come out twice, they did not do what was we talked about. And our yard still has standing water, rocks & pea gravel, and minimal grass growth.

We hired the company, paid them in good faith that what was promised would be completed. ***** has repeatedly stated he wants the work to be done right, but when I tried calling and texting Tip Top Lawns on and after May 10,2022 to work it out on multiple occasions, I received no response. Unfortunately, the only response I did receive was via e-mail stating the job is done.

Per two estimates by other landscaping professionals that we received after Tip Top Lawns was here on May 10, 2022 - the yard must be completely re-done.

We are extremely disappointed and would think Tip Top Lawns would be embarrassed about the looks of our yard and would not want it to represent the work they do.
It is our hopes that this can be resolved via BBB, so we will not have to pursue other avenues to rectify the situation.

      Regards,
