    On 11/15/2021 engine failure light in my ******* Sonata started to light up, while driving. Acceleration was limited, as was top speed in every gear.I drove to Midas in ****************** and had them check the car.They assured me that they identified the issue quickly and knock sensor and timing solenoid had to be replaced. Since I was in the middle of a journey I agreed to the repairs and waited about 4 hours, while the work was completed. The invoice was $792.15.When I received the car, minutes later the engine failure light was coming on again and the car behaved as erratic as before. Clearly the wrong repair had been carried out, the car was in no condition to be safe on the road, I have a witness for all the described. I returned to Midas, they didnt know why the problem was not fixed and told me they couldnt do anything. I had the car eventually towed to ******************************.The technicians there detected that the engine was failing and would need to be replaced. There was no other way to fix the problem. They also insisted that the knock sensor that Midas installed needed to be replaced with an OEM part by them, in order to insure full functionality of the car. When I picked up the car my service advisor, *************************, explained to me that Midas must have misdiagnosed the car problem, as the engine failure seemed obvious to the mechanics at the ******* service.On 01/04/2022 I sent the invoices to Midas representative ******************************* to ask for a refund of the Midas invoice. I followed up on 01/09/2021 since I had not heard back. On 01/10/2021 I received a reply stating that ************************** sees no reason for a refund. Even after follow up his position didnt change.However Midas should have not attempted any repair, since the correct diagnosis from ******************** in Dublin was that the whole engine needed to be replaced, which would have not been possible by Midas. No other repair would have ****** the car back to a condition that was safe.
