David ********************** prepared our 2022 taxes. We moved in 2022 from ** to IN, so required state tax returns for both states. Mr ********************** did not provide a full copy of our tax returns until after we paid, and did not allow time to review before we left because he was with another client. Upon review the next day, I discovered he did not prepare the IN state return correctly, resulting in an amount due to the state of $2,605. I notified him by email with supporting ************ of *** bulletin on how to calculate income earned in other states, and he confirmed he calculated incorrectly and would update the return before filing and advised not to pay. I then received a demand notice from the State advising I owed the above amount plus interest and penalties of $239.20. I notified him of this, and he advised not to pay, he would file amended return. I called IN DoR, who agreed to put a hold on the demand to allow time, acknowledging amended return will remove interest/penalties and I will receive refund (~$2K). Mr ********************** has been unresponsive to emails and phone calls/voice mails inquiring to status or to confirm if he has completed this. I am requesting he complete his work, at no additional charge to me, before the **************** takes further action against me, and confirm to me it has been completed in writing via email or certified mail.Business response

***************** is right in most of the details. The return for ******* had been incorrectly prepared and I had to prepare an amendment. I also have explained to ****************** that I injured my back and was on bed rest for the past two weeks. I came in to the office today to check on anything not completed and sent ****************** a copy of the amended return before I checked any email and found this complaint. I had previously informed ****************** that correcting my mistake was at no charge and I can confirm that the return amendment has been sent to ******* for processing. I had explained that this was not my usual way of handling things and was only late due to my personal injury. I am sorry that he did not accept my apology at that time and I will apologize to BBB for not being available for phone calls or emails. I will be meeting with my doctor on Wednesday to find out if I have to have a second spinal surgery or what they propose to do to alleviate the pain I enduring whether I try to lay down, sit in a recliner or walk . I am using a cane to be mobile for now. Last year I spent four months in a wheel chair before getting u to try to move around the house. I was in physical therapy from May till December when I could finally walk a little.
