I booked a move from ******* to ********** - drop off at 7:00am on 9/18. On the morning of 9/18, I drove to the Budget Of ********** @ ******************************************************** to return the truck as scheduled on my reservation. The location was closed and did not open until 8:00am. There was an employee there that morning who appeared to be getting gas from the location. He advised us that the drop box for keys was at the Budget Counter in the ******************. We left the truck, locked it and returned the keys to the drop box at the airport. On my return document, I wrote the 7am return time on 9/18/2023. Today, 10/17 - I was reviewing my September card charges and noticed an extra $231.18 charge from Budget on 9/18/2023. I have NEVER received a receipt for this so I was not aware of the charge. I called the corporate customer service number and spoke with a representative, *******. She stated that the charge was for an extra day because the location did not retrieve the keys until 10:41am. She said that instead of following the time that I was able to book for return via your official site, I should have called to confirm (your customer service phone isnt available until 7:30am so I would not have been able to reach anyone). She consistently spoke over me and when I asked to speak to a supervisor - she initially denied the request. She continued to speak over me and said she would have to reach out to the location to confirm the time of dropoff. Finally, she agreed to send to me speak to a supervisor, ******. He said that the keys were picked up at 12:49pm on 9/18/2023 - so now we have a different time - and also denied the refund citing that I should have known that there was not after hours drop off available at this location. During a stressful time of moving, a customer should be able to rely on those that are supporting the move to NOT take advantage. I will never use budget again and will advise others not to as well.
