I had a car loan through the Morris Plan Company, I totaled my car and the insurance company contacted them requesting a pay off amount for the loan 10 days out. Somehow the Morris Plan *** received the check for the full value of my car from the insurance co. I have contacted the Morris Plan *** regarding the balance I was to receive. They told me that they have a hold on the check until November 8th. The insurance check is from a reputable company and will not bounce. They received the check on Friday, Oct. 22nd. I should have been sent the balance of the check by Tuesday, Oct. 26th. I am afraid that the Morris Plan *** will hold this check to process interest fees compounded daily and late fees if another payment comes due before the check is released from the hold. In today's banking industry, they do not use snail mail. I am sure that Morris Plan *** can tell whether the check has cleared the account and the funds are good to close out the loan. I am spending money I do not have to rent a car. I should have the excess funds from the value of my car that was accidentally given to them. I contacted the Morris Plan *** on Monday, October 25th, requesting the money be sent to me asap. They refuse because of their 10 day policy. I think that the Morris Plan *** should have given the insurance company an exact payoff amount with the 10 day hold instead of requesting the full amount be sent to them. They had no right to my portion of the funds. I want to know the balance of loan as of October 25th and the refund sent to me by Friday, October 29th.
