We hired **** and his crew from Concrete Art to polish the concrete floor of our entire walkout basement. We paid him about $15,000 to do the job. When they finished up, we looked everything over with **** and noted that his crew broke both of the thresholds of our exterior doors with their equipment. He apologized, and said they would reimburse us for the damage when we got quotes from a contractor who could do the repairs. We struggled to find any contractors who would repair the door thresholds, and every contractor that looked at them said the entire doors would need to be replaced. Finally, the one quote we were able to get from a contractor is $8,000 to repair the damage. My husband tried to call ****. He answered the first time, said he was with a customer and would call back, but never called back. He hasn't answered my husband's calls since.Business response

We performed the work in January and were aware of the damaged threshold (see attached pictures). This was addressed in January with the customer, and we were waiting for an estimate to repair the threshold. We will contact the customer and get this resolved.Customer response

However, we are waiting for the ********* to come and fix the thresholds. I cannot "accept the business response", but I also do not yet "reject the business response."

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined the response would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]this has not been satisfied by us due to the fact that **** has set up appointments with us to replace our garage floor, only to not show up or call and we had to contact him to reschedule another date which the last one was today 8/10/23 which he did not show or call. Every time he cancels or doesnt show its always the same excuse Im too busy so the garage floor has not been taken care of. It did come with a lifetime warranty but with this companys pattern of behavior, we do not feel comfortable that they will follow through on the repair or any future problems covered in the warranty so at this time we would like to request a refund of $2650 per our invoice that was provided to you.

On Thurs, Feb 23, 2023, I met with **** from Concrete Art, in my home. I explained what I wanted to do with my patio, he assessed the situation, showed me pictures of what it would look like in the end. He showed me a picture of what a new step would also look like and I agreed so I added it to the project. He offered to clean and seal the threshold, I also agreed to pay for that. Before he left, he insisted I pay him half of the down payment in cash to him and the other half of the to the company. I told him that I was not in a rush to have this done and that I would not be home much in the next few months so wanted to wait to have it done. They came to do the work on March 22, after I requested they did not come that week as I was gone and we were supposed to get way too much rain to have their equipment in my yard and the yard next to me. They prepared the area and said they would pour the following day. They did not show up. By the time I got back on March 24, I did not have any electricity to that part of my house. They blew a circuit. By Tuesday, 3/28, the patio was poured but not sealed. **** showed up at my house that evening demanding the rest of the payment. I told him it was not complete and he said I had to pay it then to have them complete it. Against my better judgement, I paid him. They came back the next day and sealed it, There were so many issues; the step was not as pictured, they ruined the area where they cut the slab, but stain all over the house, left rock and debris, they broke siding, did not clean or seal the threshold and the stain was not as pictured. They did come back to try to fix these things, but did not succeed. I called **** many times, he was belligerent, swearing and hung up on me. I spoke with his partner, *****, and told him that **** was not allowed to contact me again. When ***** finally told me that they would not fix my issues, he told me that I could pay to have it resealed next year.Business response

I hired them to do the job as it was presented to me in photos and descriptions. The finished product is not as it was presented in the photos they supplied. They ruined the center of my concrete when they attempted to cut it. My house still has stain on it. The step is not what I paid for. You can clearly see in the photos I attached that the job was not as they presented in the quoting process. Also, the damage they did to my siding with the stain may have been power washed, but the stain remains.Regards,

The customer was shown photos of a previous job we did. Every concrete slab will receive the colorant differently and no 2 finishes will look exactly the same. Our salesperson explained this initially.Customer response

As you can see from the before and after photos, the customer has received a new patio done to the specifications outlined in the bid at a very fair price. A control joint was necessary and standard procedure for this slab of concrete. We returned 3 times doing tasks including landscaping, power washing, and siding repair. The concrete was integrally colored and would therefore leave no stain on the siding. We did pressure wash and remove many stains we did not cause, and the siding is not new making it hard to tell what spots were already there.Customer response

The company is not taking any action in making the problems right. The last text I had from them was a suggestion to restrain it myself next year. ***** knows they did not do right by me as does their *********. Yes, they did come back 3 times. Once to stand and look at the issues, once to seal the concrete step, which was paid for originally and not completed and once to fix the siding they broke. They claim the cleaned the siding, but the stain remains. There were many other minor problems I had with their employees (damaging a leaf blower, blowing an electrical circuit, leaving debris, cigarette butts, empty drink containers, etc), but I was willing to let those things go. They continually told me that they could not find good help as no one wants to work for them and that they had to pay people in cash in order to keep people. I can completely understand why no one would want to work for **** as hes a belligerent mean man who blamed everything on workers and not on the false promises he made to me in the beginning. As you can see from the pictures he gave me as to what my concrete would look like compared to what my concrete does look like, it is not as described.

March, 2023 I am following up on a previous complaint that was never resolved. This spring, after just a year of installation, my concrete started to disintegrate. I once again tried to contact the owners, but after one text that stated they would be here to review the following week, I have not heard back. It has been 2 weeks. Tried contacting them again, just asking what I can do to stop the crumbling, and no reply.I was told there was a 3 year warranty.
This needs to be repaired.

We signed the contract on 5/27, and paid a portion in cash directly to the owner for a "discount" and the work did not start until 8/10. On the first day of work, while removing the concrete, the workers Bobcat slid into the side of my pool effectively destroying it. In the process of trying to get the Bobcat unstuck, they destroyed a section on my chain link fence, created ditches in a section of the yard and destroyed a wood structure that covered our pump and filter. Without draining the water, we believed the pool could be saved. **** stated that all was still on track and that once the pool was repaired they would get the concrete work done. It was at this time he also told me he wasn't aware they were doing the coping and that he thought the pool guy was doing it. I explained again that we agreed at the onset, he was to do it. After a few days, it was determined that the pool was not savable and I contacted ***** at Concrete Art they needed to submit to insurance for the property damage. The settlement with the insurance was a joke in itself. They depreciated my assets to the point that I would not be able to replace and they were only liable for the value of the property at the time of the destruction. I told **** this and asked for a refund of my deposit, less the cost to remove the concrete. He told me he would look into this and get back to me. He never did. Several weeks later I agreed to a settlement for the property damage and once again asked for the deposit back since the work would not be completed. **** initially agreed to refund me $1,100. When I asked him for a breakdown of the cost, they sent me a list of items that were associated with work that never happened (framing, coping, etc). When I questioned this with him he cursed at me and told me I got what I needed from insurance, when in fact, insurance only paid me for the property damage. So, I paid $9,350 for them to remove a sidewalk width deck around my pool.Business response

On August 10th, 2022, we filed a claim and put everything into the insurance company's hands at that point.
I spoke with the insurance adjuster, and he explained to me that we should not pay/owe anything as the claim was settled 9/28/22 (see attached settlement).Customer response

The settlement I agreed to related to the property damage the business caused, as it clearly states in the settlement agreement, not the contract they are no longer fulfilling. They are not able to fulfill the contract and the work I paid them to complete, so my deposit should be returned.

The project was 1/2 completed when the accident happened (which was paid up front). The 2nd half of the project was listed on the insurance claim along with any damages to clean up after 1st half of project. The claimant was paid $17,375 over the assessed value of the damaged property as you can see from the settlement agreement. We were not involved with the settlement the claimant signed and agreed to on September 28th, 2022. We have stated that we are willing to complete the 2nd half of this project.Customer response

The project was not half completed and Im disappointed that this business would even ascertain that it was.. See previously submitted pictures. I request they show a cost breakdown of the expenses incurred from removing the concrete to show reasonableness of costs incurred. There was no framing, backfill or concrete poored on my property. The contract cannot be fulfilled because we no longer have a pool. The settlement does not release them of their contractual obligation.

We booked a job with **** at Concrete Art for a residential foundation in which he had us put a total of $4995 down. Unfortunately a few weeks before we were to start we had to back out of our plans for building a home due to financial reasons. We have recovered all but $1395 of this; although it took over a month and are now having issues recovering the rest. He isnt answering my calls or texts anymore and the last I did receive from him (approximately a week ago) was a very rude response. There was nothing stated verbally or in the paperwork that the down payment was not refundable. We have tried being very patient and even offered to compensate him for meeting up with us on two occasions but still are not getting any responses. I have also informed him we will have no choice to seek other means to recover our money also to no avail. We are not sure where to go from hereBusiness response
