I rented an apartment at **** ***** Blvd. ******, ** ***** from April, 2021 to April 14th 2022. When I left the apartment I left in good standing and with no damages. During my exit period new management had purchased the apartment complex and my security deposit has gotten lost in the mix. I was told initially that it was being resolved but over the past several weeks I have reached out to the property management team in person and on the phone, and on all occasions I have been told that they will look into it and get back to me by the end of the day. I have not received any communication back from them on any of these discussions. The best thing they have told me is that the previous property management team owes them money and I will not get paid until they get paid regardless of the laws that govern the timeline they have to follow to pay me my security deposit. It is now day *********************************************************************************** my deposit. I explained to them that I have been more than reasonable for waiting this long and they even agreed, but their actions are not matching what they tell me. They just told me again that they would have an answer by the end of the day for me and blew me off again. I would like a complaint filed against them for fraud because I do not believe they are going to pay me my deposit. You have to understand that after several weeks of no returned communications I really feel like they are not going to pay me despite what they have told me. I am a reasonable individual who just wants their security deposit back and I hope that you can make sure that no one else gets treated this way.Business response

I am responding to this complaint on behalf of Heron Corporate Housing, LLC. I am the *** of Heron Corporate Housing, which was the prior owner of this community and we received notification of this complaint. Heron Corporate Housing, LLC, was sold on February 28, 2022 to a new company/entity, who took over management as well as ownership of the development on that date. All accounting and security deposits were turned over to the new company on that date as well. Heron Corporate Housing, LLC did not become aware of this particular situation until July 2022 when the new ownership reached out to us finally to ask questions about the ledger of this particular resident. Once we became aware of this situation, we immediately worked with new ownership to get this figured out ASAP for this resident and get his money back to him. It appears that the property management with the new ownership of the development was the issue in this situation because they had questions with the resident ledger and did not reach to understand it for weeks. We do not anticipate any additional circumstances like this, however, we did establish with the new ownership that they can obviously reach out to us if they have issues understanding any previous tenant ledgers or accounting questions so we can make sure those residents get their security deposits back as soon as possible.
