On Friday 3/11/22, we took our 2013 ****** Sentra to *************************** in ********** *******. We found ****** information on *********** When we met with **** he said he would be glad to take a look at the problem we were having. We had taken to several dealerships/mechanics who could not accurately diagnose the loud noise we had coming from the engine/transmission after we put motor mounts in is when is starting making a noise. **** spent 4 hours with me driving and talking about what he thought the problem was, he listed several things it could have been. Never did he mention his hourly fee or how long it would take nor estimate to diagnose. He said he would look at it and give us an update in a few days. We had not heard back from him, on Saturday 3/19 i asked for an update and he said he had just begun disassembly on the transmission the day before and would have a estimate later that day. He never got back with us but left a voicemail on Monday 3/21. I called him back and he stated he removed the entire transmission and had located the problem and said for his time we owed him $1500. Fee was never discussed so we had no idea where he came up with the $1500. He stated there was a sign in his office that said he charged $120/hr. He said he worked 18 hrs on it. Which is unheard of and should only take a 6-8 hrs in rare occasions said a mechanic we called Aamco and ******* Transmission. I was in his shop and was never in his office, which is where the sign is posted. We never signed permission to remove the transmission or agreed upon cost. We called several transmission shops who attested that it would never take that long to remove and diagnose a transmission issue. The shops we spoke with could not believe his fee for his work. We never agreed in writing the work or the fee he is charging. We did offer **** a diagnosis fee of over and above a typical transmission shop, but he would not work with us. We have been without a vehicle for 12 days.
