-08/25/2022: **** ******* (Owner) came to my house to look at my stairs and discuss options of services he could provide and suggested he could begin work in January 2023 -08/28/2022: Owner emailed me an estimate; I texted to say we'd like to move forward with getting on his calendar and asked how I could pay; Owner said he accepted venmo or cash/check and sent his venmo information; I paid the initial deposit of $2,845 via venmo; Owner emailed me an updated invoice showing my payment had been made -09/05/2022: Owner texted to say he had an earlier opportunity to start (within 8-9 weeks) and asked for the second payment to hold my spot for that earlier start date; I paid the second payment of $2,845 via venmo and Owner sent an updated invoice -Over the course of the next 10 months, there was a pattern of me requesting an update on when Owner could begin work and him making excuses and giving me a new/later date. I explained I was due to have a baby in August 2023 and needed the work done by then. His last date he gave to begin work was July 10 and he never showed. I made multiple phone calls, left voicemails, and sent a text message - all saying I could not extend the start date any longer and requested that he respond with the best way for us to obtain a refund and when we could expect it. He has never responded to me since his last text on 07/06/2023.

**** ******* was referred by a friend after he did stair work for her. He came to my house and looked at the work we needed done then sent me a bid with the total cost of the job (which included a $1085 deposit for materials plus what we would pay when the job was finished). A few months later (October of 2023), I messaged him and asked about getting on the schedule in the fall of 2023. He said to give him the deposit of $1085 and that would assure our spot to get us in before the end of the year. IF we waited, it would be January before he got to us. I offered to mail him the check, but he said he had just moved and wanted to come by and pick it up. That day. So I left the check out for him. He sent me an updated invoice less the deposit. I have not heard from him since and it's January 4th. I have tried to reach out to him in multiple ways to ask when we would get scheduled. I tried text, email, and phone - all with no success. Then I began researching Griffin Quality Construction online. I should have looked for reviews first before giving him a cent - but instead trusted a friend's referral. He did good work for her, but I see he has stolen many other people's deposits as well. We will soon be filing a consumer complaint with the ******* ****** **** ****** as well as seeking a refund through the court in Missouri as well. I urge anyone who has been scammed by this man to do the same. ******* ******** ******* ** *** **** **** ****** ***** ************** ** **** *** **** *** **** ** ** ** **** **** **** **** ********* ** ****** *****

***** ****** my fiance put a deposit down of $1225.00 for a service of getting a railing put in our home on 08/30/2023. She also stated that same day to hold on to the funds while she reached out to her general contractor who she has a good relationship with to see if and when they would be able to put a railing in. She received a response from the contractor on 08/30/2023 and reached back out to **** ******* the owner of Griffin Quality Construction, requesting the funds back. On 08/31/2023 **** ******* stated that they would venmo the money back that evening; however, no money was received. On 09/01/2023 the defendant stated that the money would not send through ****** and that they would have to bring the money over the weekend. ***** responded stating “whatever works” and also stated that she could come to him to get the funds back. **** ******* then responded saying that he would bring the funds on Sunday 09/03/2023. On 09/03/2023 **** ******* stated that there was an emergency and that his mother was in the hospital and would reach out as soon as he saw how things were with his mother. At 6:06pm on Monday 09/04/2023, ***** reached out stating that our AC went out and it was a $1400 job to get the AC fixed and that she needed those funds back. **** ******* did not respond. On 09/04/2023 @ 6:43pm, ***** reached out and gave **** ******* a deadline of 09/05/2023 to return the money or legal action would be taken. **** ******* to this point has still not responded.

Staircase remodel project has not been started. I paid business owner $7,216 in three checks written 3/1/2022, 3/25/2022 and 5/30/2022. Start date originally was June 2022. No work has been done. He has rescheduled numerous times. He does not communicate. I have had no communication from him in 2 months. August 28, 2013 was his latest promised start date. He no-showed and will not reply to my messages. I have screenshots of virtually all text and email communications with him. I sent him the attached demand for start and completion of work or refund of money which he agreed to. He does good work, according to many references. He needs to do my job or fully refund me.

We formalized our project in June 2022 and gave a deposit of $2235 with an anticipated start date in September. We received an inflation invoice for another $335 in September which we paid immediately. After not receiving any response for months, we finally got a reply in February 2023. An April 10th start date was agreed upon and came and went. We asked for a refund on April 24 and after daily requests have still not heard back from *****

I had given ******* Quality Construction a deposit of $1725 on 1-10-2022 to have our stair case updated. I was told it would be about 2 months before the work was completed. After two months the work was not completed and I had to follow up with Mr. ******* multiple times. After six months of waiting and not having the work completed, I requested a refund. He has refused to issue the refund and I am hoping you can help before I take legal action. Thank you* ****** *****

**** *******, the owner, came to our house in July of 2021 to give us an estimate on replacing our railings and spindles on our inside staircases. We wanted to hire him and he explained that it would most likely be November before he could work on our project. The next day he sent an estimate and explained that we would need to pay for the materials up front. He used an application called joist and I paid via Debit card on July 21, 2021. On November 3rd, 2021 I attempted to contact **** to see when he could begin our project via email. He did not respond. I called and left a message on November 11, 2021, and my husband also called that same day or the next. **** did not return our phone class. I also messaged him on ******** which was our initial contact method. I could see he was seeing my messages but he did not respond. My husband left a message on a post on his personal ******** page and he promptly blocked both my husband and I. I have filed a dispute with our bank, but that has not come through yet. I have filed complaints with the MO Attorney General and the Kansas Attorney General.

I contracted with Griffin Quality Construction on April 29, 2021 with a 50 % deposit in the amount of $2,282.85 for him to renovate the stairs in our residential property (nowhere does it state that the deposit is nonrefundable). At the time of booking he stated that the work would begin in July 2021. When July came he told us it would be longer. From then on each time we contact him the date of work kept getting pushed out further and further. On November 3rd and November 4th I received facebook messages from two of ****'s other clients who also booked in April, made a large deposit, and had still not received any work to date. Because of the parallels in our situations, my husband and I decided it is best to cancel as it looks like **** (the owner) is making a habit of booking jobs, taking deposits, and then not delivering the work paid for. On November 4th 2021 we emailed him a formal cancellation of contract and request for 100% refund on the deposit of $2,282.85 and that he had until 11:59pm CST on Friday November 5th 2021 to process that refund. On Friday November 5th he told us he need more time for the processing of that refund and said it would be in the account by 11:59pm CST on Tuesday November 9th 2021. That did not happen and when he was contacted on the morning of Wednesday November 10th he then told us he needed until Monday November 15th 2021. Just as he pushed the work date, he is now pushing the refund date. On November 10th 2021 I contacted Paypal (Griffin Quality Construction's payment vendor) to open a transaction dispute through them and they confirmed that this transaction doesn't exist in this system and I must contact my bank for dispute. I am writing a formal dispute to my banking institution (has to be in writing now as it is well over 90 days past the transaction) with all of this documented in hope that they get us our money back. If that doesn't work then I will be seeking help through small claims court.

This customer has been fully refunded.

They have disputed the deposit through PayPal and the funds were taken from my bank account on November 29th.

      Thank you,

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and i just want to clarify that we as customers had to go through our banking institution to receive a refund, not the business owner, but yes we were refunded.

      Regards,
