By far one of the worst insurance companies in the business. Instead of working with you on a claim, they will fight you every way and then threaten you with a non-renewal until the work you made a claim on is fixed ... out of pocket!!! Horrible service. Echoing the numerous other ONE-star reviews of this company with an 'A+' rating ... AFI does NOT write auto policies, per say. They act as a 'servicing agent' which means they will sell you a policy that you could get directly from the actual insurance company, i.e. Progressive, Travelers, etc. WHY you would choose to use AFI is anyone's guess. But here is one, you didn't know this. Well now you do. AFI offers you NO DISCOUNT for auto insurance - ZERO. In fact, you might actually be paying more with them than if you shopped the policy yourself. TOTAL WASTE OF TIME and AFI is completely DISENGENOUS in its marketing to active duty, their families and veterans.Review from James A

I am very disappointed by the fact that Armed Forces Insurance failed to give me options to provide insurance despite being a servicemember and their denial of providing service would dishonor the memory of their founders. At first they said I couldn't qualify because I had a lapse in home insurance for more than 30 days but after finding out that I actually had Rocket Mortgage premium home insurance, they outright denied me still. I would not recommend them to military or veterans as they refuse to help.Review from Jim H

I was shopping for homeowners insurance and thought Id check out this company because they advertise that they work well with the military and veterans. When I spoke to the rep, I was given a quote $800 a year less than Im currently paying. I went over the various coverages that I had for my property and she assured me that the coverages were all the same. We agreed for her to email me an actual quote. The quote I received was only $98 a year less than I am currently paying and the coverages were very much below what I currently have. This company is very deceptive in their representation.Review from Ralph S

Wow!!! Reading AFI 's responses are extremely unprofessional and cowardice in nature. What company argues with the customer online and tries to belittle the person at the same time. I was thinking of getting this insurance but after reading AFI's responses I can see they are unethical and I would not trust them. So shameful.Review from Chad M

Ive water leaking into various rooms of my home. The leaks out the result of roofing damage from the Summer of storms we just had. They claimed it wasnt roof damage but deteriorated pipes causing the leaks, so I got a contractor out here to take a look and he confirmed, the leaks are due to roof damage. Theres no appeals process for me, so Im just screwed. Im wheel-chair bound so its not as though I can attempt a fix myself. They just steal money from Veterans every month and refuse any coverage. Having no insurance would be better, at least Id have the money to pay someone to fix it.

The claim was filed for water damage to the hallway bathroom and kitchen ceilings. An inspection of the property was completed, which included a thorough inspection of the roof. The roof shingles were in good condition and the roof was fully intact. The roof inspection did reveal that there had been attempts to apply sealant around the vent opening in the roof. An attic inspection was also completed and revealed ongoing issue around the roof opening where the plumbing pipes were vented through the roof. There had been sealant and shellac applied to the pipe and underside of the roof decking. This area was located directly over the interior water damage. The interior damages were covered, however, the cost to repair those damages were below the policy deductible. The pipe boot flashing was deteriorated, and deterioration is not covered by the policy. There were no signs of damage to the roof itself.Review from Michael Q

Their policy will not make you whole because their coverage is not as comprehensive as other insurers will be. This is a case of "you get what you pay for". I had a tree limb fall in my yard due to a storm and their policy does not cover tree removal. My neighbor felt the brunt of the pain and the removal cost for her tree was over $2500. Can you imagine covering that yourself? Luckily, my portion of the tree was not that expensive. It caused damage to my fence as well. After the deductible, they only covered about 43% of the damage leaving me to cover the remainder. In total, my responsibility for this loss was the deductible, the tree removal, and 43% of the fence repair. They covered 57% of the tree repair. To put it in dollar amounts: Me - over $1600, Them - 296.Think about what this would mean if your house caught on fire.Armed Forces Insurance (AFI) Response

This was a small claim for damage to 2 sections of fencing. An estimate was written to replace the 2 sections of fencing and to haul the debris away. The insured had a $1,000 deductible, which was deducted prior to issuing the payment. All homeowners policies come with a deductible, which represents the portion of the loss that the customer is responsible to pay out of pocket. It was explained, at the time of the settlement, that we would be able to help with part of the tree removal expense once we received the invoice. In the event of a total loss fire claim, the customer would only pay their $1,000 deductible and the insurance carrier would cover the rest of the loss, up to the policy limits. Regarding this specific loss, the customer may still submit their part of the tree removal invoice for consideration.
