This complaint is regarding Dr. ****** * ******s Billing Office and their billing practices. The billing office is located at: **** ******** *****. My son had dental surgery on 2/21/2022 (Leawood location). It's his billing office that is questionable. To make a long story short I brought what my responsibility of this surgery would be $1621.00 (per ***** the office asst which I did) The dental office already knew what may be covered & what may not. I was also aware of this because I made a call to **** to provide them with codes prior. So, I paid the $1621.00 with my debit card (day of surgery), the visit was billed and **** paid $949.48; in March or April of 2022. This doctor is in Net-work and has a contractual agreement with **** to accept assignment. My (member responsibility) was $735.00 which I paid on 2/21/2022. Not once did the billing office send statement/letter or call stating you have a credit of $886.00. I did all the calling since April 2022 spoke with *******, ***** & finally the billing manager in the Leawood office 3 months ago. I asked why hasn't my debit card been credited. She could not provide a good answer said that she basically works with ******* regarding credit disbursements (well ******* said it was the billing manager who has to give the ok to refund a patient)! Mind you ******* did call me once 5/4/2022 and said that they are trying to get more money from ****. I stated this office is a in Net-work provider and accepts assignment (per the contract), so why hasn't my credit been refunded back to my debit card. She left billing manager a message, that she was not sure why I wasn't refunded. I called billing manager & finally spoke with her in June 2022. She decided to refund $310.00 back to my debit card (I guess this was to quite down the noise/complaint). Again this surgery was in Feb/2022. **** also said I was due back $886. I want my $571.00 credited back to my debit card. I also sent complaint to ****'.

Please see attached documentation regarding the complaint received by our office. By our accounting of this patients account, the balance is complete, and no further charges or refunds are required. If you refer to the explanation of benefits from **** and follow the payments, we account for the following balance:

      see attached

Since the patient's mother paid us $1,621, we consider the account to be closed. We did however provide a refund of $310, which we could request be returned. However, to settle this account and complaint, we will not request a return of the refund.

Also, please note that the parent included and explanation of benefits from another provider which is no applicable to our business.

Unfortunately it takes me a minute to get to my texts, because of being very busy with family and taking care of my mom with Dementia & I'm visually impaired.

It's fine that you closed this issue. I knew not much was  going to happen anyway.  I'm not satisfied and will never use their services again and I have passed on this incident & information to all my friends & family and co- workers (all my government friends/community).
I have also filed this information with Fraud Abuse department with ********, administrators of program which also falls under Dental Dental guidelines when a dental provider decides to be an in- network provider & abides by their terms & conditions
I'm not sure what they mean by some of Dr. ******** charges or something being part of my claim, not at all. That office is aware of this issue, and all they can do is just shake their heads in disbelieve.  And I have actually paid Dr. ******** office close to $5000.00 or more for my boys braces &  other dental services, since 2020 (I have itemize statement showing that). I was informed that the letter sent to **** regarding an appeal (from Dr ******* office)of the charges was not detailed and no additional info was sent from Dr. ******* office, I was informed no effort was put into that appeal letter, compare to the appeal letter I sent to ****.  **** stated it was barely a paragraph.  I didn't see their appeal letter & don't know. But my appeal letter of course was a page or two. I just got letter from **** denying my appeal, but that it what I expected since **** informed me up front what services would probably not be covered & this info was given to Dr. ******* office also, prior to the services provided to my son.
Not once has **** stated that I'm responsible for those charges.  Since I paid what was expected of me per the EOB/****.
I will continue to pass on my information and file complaints with other offices and government officials.  And, again the outcome does not surprise me since one of the workers in their other office informed me this happens all the time. Social media can certainly put information out in the community regarding places not to do business with. So many practices that takes advantage of customers and are just out to pad their pockets.

      Thanks for your time.
