      Joshua's Pest Control was hired after a representative named ******* came door-to-door offering whole-yard pest control services. We agreed on a discounted price so I could try out their service, especially since this summer has been busier than usual for me. I thought their services would save me some time. After the first treatment, I noticed there were still bugs and insects in my yard, so I requested a warranty retreatment. They performed 2-3 retreatments before the second scheduled treatment. However, I found out that the service technician was only treating the area around my house and patio, not the entire 21,000 sq. ft. yard as I believed was promised. This was not mentioned when ******* sold me the service. Because of this lack of full-yard treatment, as initially promised, my wife, two dogs, and I were not able to enjoy our yard this summer. We continued to get welts from biting bugs and insects, which were still present throughout the yard. When I questioned the limited treatment area, I did not receive a clear answer initially. It took until the 2nd or 3rd warranty retreatment after the second quarter treatment for them to inform me that the contract only included coverage up to 30 feet around the house and patios. I reached out to ******* for clarification, and he directed me to *****. I explained to ***** that when I signed up for the service, I was told I would only see the contract after signing up and that I could cancel at any time without a penalty. However, ***** mentioned there would be a cancellation fee. I explained this was not communicated by *******, who told me I could cancel at any time without penalty. I stated that the only way to resolve this issue was for the whole yard to be treated going forward, as initially promised. However, Joshua's was not willing to entertain this request or allow me to cancel the service without penalty.

      Thank you for your feedback. After looking into your account, your only received 1 warranty visit. It looks like the warranty re visits were not fully taken advantage of. Extra granulation is available,  for an additional charge to go over the 30 feet radius around the home.

      There were overall only 3 services complete. Which were 05/14/2024 (Start Pest Initial) ,  06/05/2024 ( 1st Quarterly) and 07/15/2024 (Warranty Visit) . This is were we explain that there were no warranty visits taken advantage of by customer. As mentioned before , granulation can be added by 30 FT radius around the home , per extra charge .

      predatory sales tactics, unable to read contract before signing, and not paying a cancellation fee for a service that we never got. Entire property including ALL TURF AREA that were assured was included but never actually done as part of the contract I couldn’t read  before signing.

      Was told that it was a month-to-month contract, then was forced into quarterly billing. Tried to cancel and was told that we had to pay a $200 cancellation fee or finish a contract that we never signed. Decided to finish out the "contract" and then cancelled. Had to speak to 3 different "managers" to cancel our account. Then three months later, they charged us again and are refusing to refund our money stating that we never "confirmed our cancellation." How many managers does it take to cancel and account? Now we have to dispute the charges through our bank and change all of our banking information so that it doesn't happen again.

      Thank you for your feedback. Your agreement was fulfilled with the service in May 24 2024 (Your last quarterly service). The charge $139.00 was for the service that was completed 08/31/2024. However your account was closed already 09/05.

      These scam artists signed us up and offered a "free attic inspection" - so nice of them! Upon spending 5 minutes in our attic, the field person told us we had black mold, but he had a remedy to fix it - and he had a big discount. While normally this cost $14,000, he could do it for $10,000 if we signed up for his service. As a first time home buyer, I did not understand how difficult it is to diagnose black mold. After three insulation inspections, there is no black mold. To top it all off, these absolute scammers charged us $475 to cancel the "contract" that we never signed.

      Thank you for your feedback. After reviewing the account, the charge of $476.80 was for the early cancelation fee of the General Pest Control subcription. The charge was not for the Attic inspection, but for ending the agreement before the year expired. A subscription was also opened for Mosquito Maintenance then closed, however there was not early cancelation fee for that subscription .

      I am rejecting this response because: no refund was offered. I am still out $476.80.  They did not offer me any choices or solutions, they cancelled my account. They offered a $10,000 fix for our attic, which is triple the cost of what it should be. They claimed we had black mold. Our only choice was to end the relationship, this Company lied to us and used scammy scare tactics. 

      If they don't believe me, they should read the other complaints on their BBB page. They do this to unsuspecting customers all the time, I wouldn't be shocked if this business gets shut down in the coming years. In 32 years of life I have NEVER had such a difficult experience with a business/company.

      In May, 2024 Joshua's Pest control came to my home. The salesman came even though there is a sign at the street entrance that reads Private Road, No Soliciting. I signed a contract for qe uarterly insect checks at my home. I did not realize that our Townhome association covers insect control. When I called the company and said I didn't need their service they told me I had to pay 80% of the bill to cancel. I refuse to pay for their service. $357.00 I contacted them a time and told them they were not to be soliciting on our private road and for that reason I was canceling and refusing to pay the penalty fee. On Wednesday, August, 28th, they sent a final reminder that I owed them the money if I wanted to cancel. On Friday, August 30th, I told them I was not going to pay as they were told not to solicit on this street.

      Thank you for your feedback. The door to door sales men are covered under the law of "FTC", as we are authorized to utilize that tactic under our current license. The agreement also states the customer has 3 days to cancel with out any penalty fees. After that customer has to pay 80% of outstanding balance in year agreement. It is listed under the bottom right of your signature in section 11 .

      Joshua's sales person knocked on our door selling a one time service at a special price of $100. He didn't mention about that I would be locked into a one-year contract valued at 556 (which would include 4 treatments. I got the initial treatment and paid the $100. On Aug 6th Joshua's Pest Control rep showed up at my door saying the is here for the quarterly treatment. I told him I never signed up for quarterly treatment. When I called customer Service, the rep said that when you signed up for the initial treatment, you commit to one year. I insisted this was not communicated by the rep and he acknowledged the fact but he said you are still liable for the payment. If you want to cancel, you would need to pay 80% of the balance which comes to $484 with tax. The didn't waive this and made me pay this to close my account. I Joshua's has been trapping people with this tactic unfortunately. I would like to request my money back.

      The company never replied to any of my messages or texts since May until I filed complaint with BBB and so yesterday they called saying my account was cancelled with $361.00 termination fee which is not authorized.  I would like that refunded, I was a brand new customer that was tricked by the rep who came to my door as I just moved in the house!  He said it was a month to month service and I could cancel any time.

      Joshua's Pest Control sent their salesman over a year ago in the neighborhood. The salesman and came to my property and using his tactic forced me into buying termite control saying I have termites on my property. He also said that I can cancel the service anytime. I paid $500 for installation and $49/month thereafter. I waited a year (they come for annual inspection only). Today the inspection team came and looked at the stations they installed and told me there are no termites. I just wasted over $1100 for nothing. So, I called in and requested them to cancel the service only to be told that it's a 2 year agreement and I will have to pay $600 to cancel it now. Even if I do not cancel, I will have to keep paying $49/month for one more year and the stations installed do nothing. I asked them to cancel the service and avoid this penalty but they did not budge and are charging me $600. I want my money back. Please help with this. This company is nothing but all sham and they are well trained to loot money out of customers. I all I seek is that they do not charge extra to cancel my services ($600) and no salesman from Joshua's Pest Control should show up on my door.

      I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is not satisfactory to me.  But I have no option of pursuing this further. There are hundreds of customers out there who are frustrated and cheated in the same manner I was. Their sales person say something and the business says something. 

      There is no point in arguing with this business who does not care about the customers. The BBB ratings and reviews of the business says it all.

      In aprox spring of 2023 we called Joshua’s to see if they offered a cheaper option. Because we had already fulfilled our 2 year contract with them we were informed they offered something more like a pay as you need plan. After opting for that plan we had no issues the first couple times we called to schedule a service. Then they started coming back out as though we were still on the old plan. When we called the company we were informed that they don’t offer a pay as you need plan. Not long after, someone from their termite division showed up to remove the termite stakes claiming we requested their removal, which we did not. After nearly an hour on our doorstep the Joshua’s rep left still unsure if he was supposed to remove the stakes or not. Now the company is telling us they won’t come out to perform services unless we start a whole new more expensive plan under a two year contract. We are being treated as though we canceled our service despite only accepting a service they offered us. It is clear Joshua’s pest control has some internal communication issues. They don’t seem to know the services they offer. They send representatives out to properties without notification. Said representatives have as much trouble resolving matters as customers.

      The company said they were coming out to check for termites. they did not find any in my home and then checked the yard. Showed me a little tiny bub on the back of a rock and said it was a termite. Said they would put out bait that would kill them for one year. The cost was $2300. Then I had them put that outside , The same day they sent out a man to check my attic. That man said I have 400 rats in my attic and for $9000. they would clean that up and put down new insulation. I then knew I had been scammed. I went online to see what a termite looks like and it was not at all what I was shown. I called and spoke to a manager I said I want the bate removed and my money back. He said he would do that. Then when they didn't come I called again and was told they would not give me my money back.

      A salesman arrived at my door. The first day I told him no. He did not listen and arrived the next day. I accepted his services after he refused to listen to my original answer. He made me sign a contract, briefly went over it but did not allow me to see what I was signing and he left out the part that I would have to pay 80% if I no longer wanted services. I was told it was quarterly, however they charged my account the next month after I already paid for the first treatment. I said I no longer want services and they said I had to pay 80% basically the entire full year of service when I had not received but one visit that I already paid for from them. The representative on the phone said I was recorded by the salesman without my consent and he described to me the color of hair I have and glasses which scared me. They are forcing people into contracts and then not letting them out and recording people without their consent. I do not recommend this company to anyone.
