The customer has not provided information regarding which Calvert's Express location serviced the vehicle but the address listed for the customer is in St. Louis, MO. All St. Louis market locations have been closed; with the last one closing in December of 2023. Calvert's Express offers a one (1) year or 12,000 miles whichever occurs first from the original date of purchase. If the vehicle was serviced by a location in the St. Louis market, the warranty period has expired. That being said, if the customer can provide the location where the vehicle was serviced, I will research the transaction.

"RIPOFF ARTISTS!! BEWARE!!! 2weeks ago I called in to get my Ford Mustang Diagnosed referencing codes reading timing issue. These guys diagnosed it as timing chain broken which Prior mechanic already confirmed no problem there. I called 4 mechanic shops prior to Calverts to get price on timing Chain replacement, and they all ranged from 1,600 to 2500 parts and labor no problem there however they were highly backed up in work so When Calverts told me they normally repair cars same day or 24 hours naturally I chose their route. ***** told me via phone that I needed a timing chain no explanation at that time, and he said it would cost me 6,000.00 parts and labor. My eyes nearly popped out if my head!!! I toldem no way I have 6,000 for a timing chain replacement especially when 4 other reputable shops are under half of that Then I said I only have 5,000 to my name but I need my car fixed so he says " you're killing me " but I'll do it for 5,013.00 ( later I'll describe dealer researched repair only 3200.00 ***** tipped me off 2,000 extra dollars and initial tried to Rip me off 3,000 over dealer price). So at this point I had little options left needing the repair and to get to work daily so I gave greenlight around 3pm Thursday. The next day 1pm ***** called my car is ready and fixed running good. I get to shop and spoke to ***** and here comes the catalyst of all bombshells, this fella tells me my dial pin broke causing the issue and showed me the bad part taken off then said they couldn't locate a new one so they drove to " home depot" and found a metal piece to compensate for the original piece and welded that on instead of the proper one from a dealership and instead of calling me to give me the option of allowing them to Jerry rig up my engine vs me saying no guys don't do that craziness I just need to replace the engine ultimately now. So then w/ out my permission they Jerry rigged up my car w/ improper home depot part and then told me " hopefully " this thing they did would hold for 20k miles or 6 months. In unbelief what I was hearing I played it cool and went along with the craziness and prepared to do my research when I got home. I paid the 5,013.00 bill went home and researched the costs of this repair, and discovered I was ripped off like no tomorrow. Then to add insult to injury 4 days later my timing went out again car began to lose power. I couldn't believe it, I parked it again at home. I then went to start it up next morning to make sure it wasn't maybe just minor issue and my engine went nuts metal grinding and clanging noises bent valves and that rigged up metal rod broken to pieces inside my engine. After 5,013.00 rip off charge to me these guys totally destroyed my entire engine, never fixed my timing issue. So I called ***** immediately and told him what happened he said " oh man guess that didn't work what we tried" I said yeah it didn't I need this fixed bro. He says " you'll need an engine we'll cover the labor ( mind you I was charged over double labor cost). He says well adjust labor and I immediately said listen I have zero dollars to pay for anything whatsoever after giving you 5,000 plus dollars bro. He then says " well we'll make it work for you" Bring it in...we'll I cudnt drive it to bring it in bear in mind. So I called ***** back, after I spoke to Ford dealer and gained tons of information on the negligence and foolish inexperience and bad decisions and not informing me that they were choosing to improperly rigup my car, of Calverts auto, by the Ford Dealer saying they need to be put out of business doing this to a customer. So I called ***** bak again and said Ford dealer mechanic said he can get me an engine and ***** says ok I said I prefer you coordinate. He didn't call for two days until I called bak urgently demanding it then he called mechanic said he's not paying for my engine " wow." Then tells me samething on the phone! 1st words I'm not paying! Beware! Dangerous Fraudulent Auto Shop.Business Response

We apologize that *** ***** has had a negative experience at one of our shops.
It is my understanding that *** ***** has not return the vehicle to Calvert's Express as is required by the warranty as is stated on his invoice. We have not been afforded the opportunity to assess the vehicle and determine if, in fact, the repairs which we performed have failed. If *** ***** has had the vehicle repaired elsewhere, we request a copy of the invoice for those repairs detailing the repairs which were performed. If he has not, we would like the opportunity to assess the vehicle and, if applicable, warranty our work. Please provide a date he is able to return the vehicle.

I am rejecting this response because:This shop has proven dishonest practices by trying to charge me in the initial stage of repair estimates, 3 times the normal rate if repair. Secondarily I have recorded phone conversations the shop manager told me np matter what he will " not" replace my Engine so it's the opposite of the lie thetre stating about a warranty. They breeched the warranty and I have the recording the judge will enjoy this one. I lost my job and no vehicle in 2 months to get me to work because of the fraud of this company putting a non OEM nor after market part on my car but a home depot builders warehouse part riggedup and destroyed my engine. And I have full video of the destruction of my engine as well, and recorded phone conversation of shop manager " admitting to putting home depot part on my vehicle leading to its demise." So this company should be shut down after my losses incurred and many many many complaints i found
Online. They just contradicted themselves with another lie, the shop refuses to replace my engine and I have recorded conversation to prove it...So now they not only owe me 5,013.97 they also owe me for many many damages I've incurred!
Sincerely,

Location: **** ********* ***** ********** ** ***** I have taken my truck to them, this is the 4th time. Every time I take it to them I have issues with them. This time I had my in take gaskets replaced, they did it and as soon as I drove off the check engine light came on. They said it was the knocker sensors. They said to take it to the dealer. The next day my truck started squealing real bad, I took it in to them. The truck was squealing again so I took it back in. It was hard to steer. So they said I needed something else. They said I needed a power steering pump. Still my truck did not work right. My nephew looked at it and he's a mechanic. He said my belt was shredded and it should not be like this. We found the parts and my nephew got it fixed. I bought the parts myself. Calvert Express did not repair my truck correctly. Originally he told me I needed to replace the head cover gasket and I said are you sure? I called him from the auto parts place and when I brought it in he said valve cover gasket. So I went back and exchanged it. They ordered it. When everything was done by them they charged $1,100.00. It kept being something else whenever the truck back to them. I would like to be refunded $1,100.00.Business Response

Mr. ****** brought his 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe in on 03/10/2023. At that time, the mileage on the vehicle was 247,033. He had two issues: 1) an overheating issue, and 2) a check engine light complaint. Upon inspection, we found several codes. The First code we found was P0300 which is a Rando* **** ****. We explain to Mr. ****** the first step to resolve that code is to replace the spark plugs. The second issue we found was a code P0420. This was the Cat Converter Fault code. We replaced the Bank # 1 Cat. The next code was ****** Coolant over temp. This was related to the overheating issue. We found the heater hose broken and leaking and one of the coils was bad. He needed a new heater hose connector and a new coil.
On 03/15/2023, Mr. ****** came in for a Safety Inspection and we identified he needed a Knock Sensor. He declined to replace the Knock Sensor that day. He returned to have the Knock Sensor replaced on 03/21/23.
Mr. ****** return on 03/29/23 with a complaint that his power steerfluid was low. He stated he added fluid the day before. We identified he needed a Power Steer Pump. It had failed and fluid was leaking everywhere. We replaced it for Mr. ******. Mr. ****** also stated his nephew is a mechanic and that he identify that his belt was shredded. His nephew replaced the belt that goes on the Power Steering Pump. I apologize that we did not replace the belt and stated we should have. In this situation, we are guilty of underselling trying to save the customer money.
Please keep in mind, a vehicle with 247,000 plus miles need repairs and all of these are just general maintenance issues. The issues Mr ****** has had were not caused by Calvert's Express in anyway. Mr. ****** is asking for $1100 refund for something on his initial visit that we did not cause which I find unreasonable.
Mr. ****** is not entitled to any refund whatsoever. Due to the fact we did not cause any of these issue especially on his initial visit. We hope that we don’t lose Mr. ****** as a customer. He has been a good customer for years.

I brought my vehicle to Calvert's because the air was not working and it was still under warranty from repairs completed 09/01/2022. Calvert’s called me and advised I needed a blower motor to repair the air conditioner. I am not a mechanic so I obliged for them to fix the blower motor as I was under the impression it would fix the air conditioner and they were suppose to be the experts. Calvert’s called me when the repair was complete and said the air conditioner was working. I had to pay the balance prior to obtaining my keys. Once I was in the car I noticed the air conditioner was still not working so I went back inside Calvert’s to advise it wasn’t working and they told me they got the blower working but did not know why it wasn’t blowing out cold air and they could check it again but I’d have to pay another $2,000. Considering their lack of professionalism I chose not to go back to this location. I took it to another mechanic and showed them the documentation I had for repairs for the vehicle and was advised I didn’t need a blower motor. The issue with the air condition was a leak and it was repaired by ***********Business Response

****** ******** is the customer on record for this transaction. *** ******** came to our shop on 08/01/22 because his blower motor was not running (no air movement coming from vents when the system was turn on to
any level). We had replaced the blower motor on 09/01/21. Our technician assessed the vehicle and determined that the blower motor was not
functioning but the motor itself was fine. He determined that the 'pig tail' (wiring for the blower motor) and the blower motor resistor needed to
be replaced (see signed Estimate_*********). *** ******** was contacted and agreed to the necessary repairs at the total price of $652.79. The repair
was completed and the blower motor was, and still is, function properly when *** ******** picked up his vehicle (see signed Invoice_******).*** ******** returned the same day upset that the air was not blowing cold. He had made no mention of the air temperature at any time in his earlier
visit. The Manager explained that we only assessed and repaired the blower motor as was requested and that the blower is working properly. The Manager
offered to complete an AC Inspection for $39.99. The technician determined that the refrigerant was low. The Manager explained to *** ******** that
low refrigerant is only caused by a leak in the AC system and that leak may be very small and is often very difficult to see with the naked eye. An
EVAC AND RECHARGE WITH DYE had been completed on 09/01/21 when the blower motor was replaced. That dye that will glow under a black light which help
us determine where the system is leaking. When the technician checked the air conditioning system with the light, the compressor had quite a bit of
dye on it. The shop manager explained to *** ******** that the A/C compressor is leaking which is why the air is not cold. He provided a quote
to install a new A/C COMPRESSOR KIT and recharge the refrigerant for a total of $2136.36. *** ******** declined to have that work performed.Customer Answer

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:
I took my vehicle to this location, due to them previously completing repairs as it was still under warranty, with the sole intent for them to fix the air conditioner as I was going to be driving from Missouri to Florida. I dropped the vehicle off for them to look at it to let me know what needed to be done to fix the vehicles air conditioner. The shop contact me and advised to repair the air conditioner a blower motor was needed. I am not a mechanic so when I take my vehicle to a shop for repairs I am depending on them to be the experts to advise what needs to be done so I agreed for them to proceed with repairing the air conditioner. The shop called me and advised they had repaired the air conditioner. When I entered the shop they made me pay prior to me even knowing that they actually did not repair my vehicles air conditioner. I went to my car and attempted to turn on the air conditioner and realized they had not fixed the air conditioner. I never left the location! I went back in the shop and let them know the air conditioner was still not working and they said, “we got it to blow out air”. August is one of the hottest months of the year, the vehicle has leather seats, and I was driving it to Florida! Considering all of that there was no way I went to the shop with intent to repair a blower motor as I do not even know what that is. What I do know is that it was extremely hot outside, I was ready to return home to Orlando, Fl as I was only in Kansas City due to my brother being murdered. I was finally bring my daddy’s vehicle back to Florida with me as it was his car and he passed from Covid the year before and I hadn’t had a chance to pick it up. The last part really has nothing to do with them not repairing the air conditioner but it does paint the picture of what was going on. I have attached my bank statement showing I was the one who took the vehicle not sure why they have ****** ******** listed. I have also attached a copy of the title showing that it is indeed my vehicle. I later found out after combing through my fathers documents the blower motor was repaired 2020 and then they also repaired it 2021 there is no way it needed to repaired a 3rd time. It appears that the mechanic did not take the time to accurate asses why the air conditioner was not working as when I took it to a mechanic in Florida they were able to fix the air conditioner. I previously have provided proof please see my prior documentation.Regards,

The work completed by Calvert's Express did not cause Mr. ******** current issues. The shop did recommend replacing a part (yoke) and Mr. ****** did not have that recommended work completed. The failure of that part is the likely cause of his issued. Although we did not cause the issue, Mr. ******* has made arrangements with Mr. ****** to install a used transmission in his vehicle on 07/29/22 and Mr. ****** has released the company from all future claims regarding this matter.Initial Complaint

Ms. ***** came to Calvert's Express on 05/18/22 requesting and oil change and and asked we assess a brake issue. We completed a free brake inspection and diagnostic and after assessing her vehicle we recommended the following: front brake rotors and pads, rear brake rotors and pads, a right front hub assembly and ABS sensor. She declined all services except an oil change and front brake pads at that time. The approved work was performed.Ms. ***** returned on 05/31/21 and requested we replace the hub assembly and ABS sensor previously recommended. We assessed the vehicle again and completed the requested work. Once completed, a new diagnostic code occurred indicating there is an issue with her ABS control module and we recommended she take the vehicle to a dealership for further repair.Ms. Sharp's vehicle is a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox with 226,679 miles on it. It is not unusual for systems to wear out and fail as a a vehicle's mileage reaches this point. We assessed her vehicle based upon her concerns, made recommendations for repair and completed the repairs she authorized. There were no indications that there was an issue with her ABS control module prior to when we made the repairs. All work performed and parts installed are covered under our warranty as described on each invoice. Ms. ***** received a copy of at check out each time she visited. We would be happy to assess the vehicle and determine if any of the parts we installed have failed and make any indicated warranty repairs.
