The business owner is my hair stylist. I’ve been going to her for years so I trusted her. I showed up to my appointment to get my hair trimmed and she suggested we do extensions to add color to my hair. I was interested and she told me word of mouth that it would be $400 and that day to pay for my trim and hair extensions. I paid $460 including tip and she agreed that was for everything multiple times considering I’ve never had hair extensions before. I left that appointment and about a week later we set up a time for me to come in a get them put in my hair. On Feb 25th I came in for my appt and she put the extensions in and colored my real hair. She charged me another $560. I was shocked considering she already agreed the $400 I paid last appointment was the total for the hair plus tip. She did not communicate to me the entire process and proceeded to charge me for made up prices. She apologized multiple times for not telling me the process. I gave her another $170 ***** plus $80 in cash that was all I had and my last dollar. I didn’t expect her to charge me more than what we agreed. I left in a panic and we exchanged texts that I would have never started this if I knew it would be more than $1000 for hair. I couldn’t afford that. She repeated to apologize for not explaining prior to the appointment and still asked for more money. She did not try to handle the situation rightfully and blocked me through phone and all social media and cut all communication. A week later she billed me through email an additional $310 for the remaining and threatened to take it to court. I do not feel as though I owe her any more money. She did not explain anything to me until the hair was done and on my head. I paid her $710 already and she blocked me on everything no communication. This was wrong and a horrible experience. I took the hair out myself two days later and she’s harassing me for more money through email and won’t communicate. I hope this never happened to anyone else.

      Business response

      03/14/2022

This guest ***** originally responded to an ad I put out offing a discounted rate for extensions for February and March. On the ad are the prices for installation $85/hr($125reg price), $100 off extensions, and an ******* Shampoo and Conditioner for take home which she never got because she never paid for her service in full so I wasn’t giving out free product too. We set up and had an hour long consultation while I did her haircut on Feb 18th, 2022. During that time I went over all pricing that was stated on ad SHE responded to with pricing on it. We decided to do 1 row of extensions that I would custom color blue for her so it would peek through her hair. At that time she prepaid for the extensions $347 and haircut $56 so I could order the hair.   Before paying she asked if this was for the hair which I responded yes, because it was for the hair extensions and we had previously just talked about installation being separate. She then over the course of a few days messaged me several times excited for her appointment and curious to when the hair would come in so she could have them installed. Please see attached for all dm’s with dates. Then about 2days before sent me pics of hair that were more of an ombré look with length and not just a peek a boo color. I told her then that if she wanted the length too that it would be extra rows 3-4rows total. She was ok with that and preceded with scheduling her installation appointment and coloring appointment. I’m he day before her appointment she decided she wanted to have me color her extensions with an ombré look rather than just the blue color we spoke about which too way more color and took 2.5hrs to do. Even still I only charged $100 which covered the cost of color since extensions take more color than a human. The next day, her appointment time February 25th, 2022, came and she agreed that in nailed the color. I colored her hair all over dark $120, installed her extensions 4rows, $85/per row, $340 and even did another haircut that I did not charge for,($56 value) to help extensions blend, 5.5hrs for total of 8hrs of work. I took tons of pics of hair, her smiling, saying how much she loved them and was so happy. Then came time to pay and she was shocked and apologetic as she didn’t have enough to pay. I was shocked that she didn’t considering our thorough consult the week before. I said this too her. She brought up the $403 she paid and I explained the $347 for that was just for the hair like I told her during consult. She admitted that she misunderstood. I apologized that she didn’t understand but those are my prices which are also on the ad she responded to. But her being pregnant and because she had had a miscarriage before this pregnancy I instantly went into crisis mode and wanted to not cause her any stress. So I told her that she could give me what she could that day , then the rest later or she could do payments. She apologized over and over I kept reassuring her as I didn’t want there to be an issue or stress on her. She gave me $80 in cash and $170 in *****. She hugged me and thanked me for her hair and told me how much she loved it. I then sent her pics a bit later and she expressed again how much she loved her hair and how I’m the best at what I do and how sorry she was. I again reassured her it was ok and I was sorry too that it wasn’t clearer to her. Although I’m still not sure how I could’ve been any clearer considering she literally had it in writing. The next day I received the text you will see her stating she felt misled and wanting a refund. I did respond expressing my sincere apologies but couldn’t issue a refund for services already provided that weren’t even paid in full. She sent another paragraph which I chose not to respond to. I waited a week to see if she would pay on that Friday she had promised to in her texts. She did not. At that time I decided to block her on social media and my cell as to not get any bad/false reviews, but did not block on my email, from her and sent out an invoice for the balance she owed for services. I gave 7days. The day before it was due I sent a curtesy reminder. That day I got a message from her boyfriend asking for my ******* and he would pay me slowly the rest of what she owed. I responded only with my ******* and immediately got a text from her saying she had contacted her lawyer and I wouldn’t hear from them anymore. I responded Lol ok you will be hearing from mine tomorrow. I then had my lawyer draw up a demand letter letting her know that this is INDEED Theft of Services and she will have 10days to respond. This is clearly a matter of buyers remorse. Nothing more, nothing less. She got services she couldn’t afford and is trying desperately to not have to pay. Now she’s accusing me of harassing her when all I’m trying to do is get the money I’m owed for a service SHE got. Now she’s trying to trash me on BBB which is the ultimate slap in the face. I have never had anyone do this before. I really hope you read all the dms start to finish to see what have done nothing wrong but charge for a service I provided and am only asking her to pay her balance. Imagine if we all filed complaints for the bills we owed. Insanity.
