            I had paid $300 for a board exam through the NBRC. I then had to schedule the exam through another company that the NBRC has selected to manage that aspect for the exam. The site I had selected to take this exam canceled my exam date. I had strategically scheduled this board exam because I was to begin other course work the following week. The NBRC did in fact send reminder emails to reschedule but because I was working full-time amidst a Pandemic and taking college courses, I paid no mind to their emails. Regardless of this I feel it is extremely poor professionalism to make me pay another $300 to reschedule this exam now. I would have understood not even being credited the exam fee had I been the one to cancel but the other company did. Why do I have to be the one inconvenienced? I had every intention to take the exam as well as spent the time and resources to study and PAY for practice exams.

            Two months after I’ve passed my tests, I’m being threatened score “invalidation.” They’re auditing my eligibility and saying I MUST pay for transcripts to be sent to them (they already approved my testing… I’ve passed) or they’ll retroactively pull my credential. Based not on scores, but on an internal audit process? This is predatory mismanagement. I’ll never support this organization and advise against any interaction with them period.

            NBRC is transparent about our audit process and we provide detailed information regarding the process in our Candidate Handbook, which is made available prior to scheduling and testing. Detailed notifications are also sent to audited candidates. Random audits of first-time exam candidates are a routine part of NBRC’s commitment to ensuring public safety and complying with standard regulatory practices.
