We entered into a time and material contract this summer with Rockin H construction (****** *******). We have had nothing but problems since beginning of construction and had to ask him to fix things all along the way. Over the last month or so, we have realized he falsely advertised that he and his workers were skilled finishers, and that is not the case. We have found multiple issues. He has come out to “fix” the dining room (or sent workers out) at least 3 times and we have giant thick cracks in the walls because the drywall wasn’t hung correctly to begin with (among other issues with finishing also). We found insulation was installed incorrectly and very ineffectively behind drywall of adjacent rooms before we told ****** we no longer wanted him doing drywall. Beams have been unsecured. The roof has been found to be leaking twice now, originally he supposedly fixed it and this was not the case. He installed uneven subfloor and didn’t correct this before laying laminate down despite us pointing it out multiple times. He has yet to “credit” us with money we put down in the beginning for concrete work another company ended up having to come in and fix anyway. He refuses to refund money for labor spent on the dining room which will have to be fixed redone correctly. He also did not provide us with all receipts for money we paid on invoices airway, therefore there is around $6,000 that we spent that is unaccounted for with receipts at this time because he refuses to provide them. Invoices have material costs in whole numbers instead of exact amounts which makes it appear as if he’s padding numbers or generalizing despite it being a time and material contract. He has had random people show up on site to “work” despite him not being aware they will be there. We are asking for our original “upfront” payment back and a refund for labor spent on the dining room that is substandard work. I have photos, videos and communication between us from throughout the process.
