After attempting and failing to fix the airconditioning on my 2008 Chevy Cobalt in March of this year--2023--I returned the vehicle to Darrell's Service 4300 SW 21ST STREET | TOPEKA, KS 66604 on May 8, 2023. I was told by a service tech named Jason after diagnosis on the telephone that I had two issues regarding service lights. One concerned the air conditioning, the other was a faulty brake light indicator. I told Jason over the phone I did not want the brake light issued address after he quoted me a price above $400.00 for both issue or 270 or the AC. I told them to throw in an oil change and fix the AC for $300 or under, which he indicated he could do. He then called back almost immediately and told me the total with an oil change would be $319.00. I agreed to the charge. Several hours passed. When I arrived at the shop in the late afternoon of May 8, I was told the total charge would be $453.74. I was stunned. I asked the techs behind the cash register and in the store's reception area that surely there must have been a mix-up and they agreed. I assumed they could make a correction to the agreed to price which even during this exchange they SAID the agreed price was $319.00. Yet when I was putting the car key on my ring, they insisted I pay the $453.74 because they had run the diagnostic check "on both issues." So what? They essentially charged me for their incompetence and lack of intra-office communication. I took the car home without paying a dime.Not wanting to settle in a business-like fashion they instead called the TPD. Yes, I paid the full amount to those scoundrels, but I don't recommend going there for ANY service.

The first time you were in we did not repair , but merely charged your AC with refridgerant. You returned a couple of weeks later and said the AC was working intermittently. I explained to you then that that would indicate a control issue and would require diagnostic time which we do indeed charge for. Your vehicle had several trouble codes stored in the system involving different components. The one that affected the AC operation was the p0128 thermostat code which is the only code we addressed. You were charged for one hour diagnostic time and the repairs you approved. When you left without paying the authorities were contacted concerning theft of services. We do thank you for coming back in the next day and paying the bill in full.

Again, in its service station-speak response. Darrellis service of Topeka is lying to you. in March, the technician said the air-conditioning was fixed and he said the problem is in two front facing porch directly under the hood he claim to have replaced them. I didn’t bother to see the old parts I should have that was my mistake And then just this week Mays, they over the phone twice told me with the diagnostics and without repairing the tail lights diagnostic the bill would be 319.. don’t believe the con job. Their incompetence and lack of customer service is painful. I would advise not using their shop.
