We just finished building with Relph Construction. While the finished house is what we were wanting, with the exception of some subpar painting and cabinetry work, the experience with Relph and their representatives was worse than awful. The super over our site is Russel ******* son in law, Mike *******, and I can't say he is in any way qualified for the position. The communication between him, the sellers agent, and us was non-existent. He was also incapable of giving us a straight answer, and we caught him in several lies. The sellers agent representing them, Barb *****, I believe is also related in some way, and the communication with her was even worse. Our agent had to ask multiple times just to get questions answered. The also failed to keep the build on schedule, and blamed it on delays, that we then proved to be false. We were told 20 days before our first closing date (too late to get an extension from our home buyers) that they needed another month, and then again 5 days before our second closing date. We were essentially homeless for 2 months with no recourse. Of those 60 extra days that we gave them, they worked maybe a full 2 weeks if i'm being generous. There were entire weeks where the house wasn't touched, and all the other days were maybe an hour or two of work. Our "final" walkthrough showed just how poor the quality of work was done, and how many of our notifications to them of something needed fixed were disregarded. On our actual final walkthrough the day before closing, we had to write an addendum that gave them 2 weeks to repair the things that still weren't completed, such as a missing cabinet door that they knew was broken for months. I'll have to fix a lot of poor quality painting, and we found a cabinet drawer that wasn't installed properly so we can't use it until it's fixed, and we've only been in the house for 3 days. I'm sure we'll find more later. I can't recommend that you build with Relph unless you want a giant headache.
