The dates are june-july 2023. After the initial estimate by the company, we asked ******** ******* for the installation, so we had his team at our home to do detailed laser measurements, which included the countertops and all backsplashes. Scott made the quote based on these measurements, and we paid about $4200 as a down payment for a quote that was about $8800. The team brought the granite for installation which included the countertops and the backsplashes. After the installation was complete, Scott provided the final invoice, which was about 30% more than the quote based on the laser measurements: his reasoning was the backsplashes were not included in that quote. When I told him that the laser measurements included backsplashes and no change order was given, and also his quote did not have anything that said “backsplashes not included” he just claimed that we never talked about the backsplashes. The price that he offered at that time was the reason that we asked his company to start installation. And his crew knew what was asked and what was measured that the manufactured the countertops and the backsplashes were installed without further instructions/change orders 3 days after our deposit. Unfortunately, his crew has not finished the installation yet. The upstairs bathroom is not installed correctly and needs to be remanufactured and reinstalled (their error cost me $300 in additional plumbing and paint which he must pay). The kitchen countertop is broken and glued back, which needs to be replaced (have you seen any granite installation with broken parts?); the crew forget to screw the dishwasher to the side walls, and Scott charged tax for the labor in installation which should not be the case. I want them to finish the job, and pay for all of my inconvenience, and additional costs incurred.

The customer provided drawings that i prepared an estimate off of. Back and side splashes for the kitchen, bar and bath areas were never part of the  any estimate or agreement. The measurements provided were significantly different than what was actually need. However I did NOT charge anything extra for this increased sq. ft. of materials or labor. We also custom made support brackets out of oak and installed them and did not charge for it. The estimate disclosed that sales tax would be added. Because they offered to pay in cash they felt like they should not pay any sales tax. The estimate says that pricing is based on cash or check. If you want to use a credit card there is a 3% fee added.

I already discounted the project since they were doing more areas than just the kitchen. I have even said that if there was some sort of communication  they could return the splashes that were never part of the estimate and i would adjust the invoice. I also said they could adjust the sales tax to an amount that they felt was correct based on whatever ideas they had.

Sadly no matter what we have done extra and not charged for, whatever discounts i have already provided they still want more. I now believe this was a pre-meditated effort on their part to extract as much as possible during their remodel from me and other suppliers. Most other large companies would eventually give up since too many people would have been part of the process. In my case I know exactly what was said and agreed to. I now feel they are trying to take advantage of me.
