I went in to see what it would take to replace two veneers. After much discussion they suggested I put crowns on and the total work for four, not two crowns would be over $*******. I told them my insurance would not cover it and I could not afford to spend that much. They insisted that they worked closely with my insurance, and they were certain they could get approval, could they at least try they asked. I gave t900hem permission, within fifteen minutes they were back and said yes, it was all approved. I was shocked but very happy. When I left, they asked for a payment of $******. I wasn't sure why, but I went ahead and paid thinking, I may have to pay it and then be reimbursed. Each time I went in, as I left, they asked for more money. I believe I paid a total of $**** and when they asked for more again, I asked why I was paying for it if insurance had approved it. I kept getting the run around. Each time I got another invoice I called and spoke to the billing manager who gave me the run around. This is fraud. They make you believe insurance will pay for it so they can do the work and then stick you with the bill.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2022/07/13) */ Our office takes pride in providing an in office estimate to move forward with taking great care of our patients' rather than delaying treatment time by submitting a pre-determination to the patient's insurance company which can take up to 3-4 weeks. However, we will be more than happy to submit a pre-determination upon request. Being able to provide an in office estimate, our staff gathers the patient's benefits and calculates what the insurance company is estimated to pay/the amount the patient is estimated to pay with what is available on the benefits received by the insurance company. It also states on the benefit information that the information received by the insurance company is not a guarantee of payment. We also express that information to our patients' at the time the estimate is being presented, that the amount they will be responsible for is an estimate. Our office also stamps the word "estimate" on the form that is being signed by the staff member who is presenting as well as the patient. We file a claim as a courtesy for our patient and ask if there are any concerns that they also be in touch with their insurance company.
