After being so happy with a hot water tank replacement by Mr Handyman I never dreamed that a tub to shower conversion would be such a nightmare while the issues are too many to list it began with the shower not being installed correctly and trying to fix their mistakes did not make it much better now after being out hundreds of extra dollars I am left with a project I'm not happy with and a hole in the linoleum which they chose not to take responsibility I will not use Mr Handyman for any future projects

Thank you for choosing Mr. H******* for your home repair projects. We feel honored to have worked in your home on multiple occasions. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts on the most recent project. The bathroom tub to shower conversion was more complicated than some given the condition of the room; over time the walls had shifted to out of square and the floor to out of level. Our technician enjoyed the time spent with you explaining the complications and sharing and collaborating with you on solutions that were technically feasible, aesthetically pleasing. Budget and cost implications were also discussed. The two of you agreed on the plan prior to starting the work and the plan was executed as per your agreement; a plan that would get the job done but keep costs to a minimum. For example, normally we would have removed the drywall and furred the new drywall to square the opening but used an alternate solution to minimize the cost as per your agreement. The technician expressed how easy it was to work with you during the process. He believed that all agreed with the plan and proposed corrective actions. There was some additional cost incurred, but it was kept to a minimum. Some work, trimming the top of the enclosure, was done at no cost to you as a goodwill gesture to a valued customer. You informed us of chips in the enclosure after it was installed. As you know, what were thought to be two small chips were two small pieces of dirt or debris. We sent two technicians to your home to validate that there were no chips. The debris was removed at that time. If the debris was there when we finished initially, we should have cleaned it then we apologize if we overlooked it at completion of the project. It is possible that the linoleum was cut when we were moving the enclosure into the room. The area under the cut is not supported by floor sheeting material, without a base it is possible that it was cut during the move in process. We regret that we did not see this and report the small cut to you. As you know, we have discussed repair at no cost to you and you informed that you do not want any action taken relative to the cut in the flooring. We strive for complete customer satisfaction and believe we have listened to you as you explained your issues and we have responded to each of your requests. We spoke with you recently and you reported you did not require any additional action from us. If you think of additional actions, you would like us to take, do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention, the awareness helps us to continuously improve our work and the level of satisfaction with our valued customers like you.

      Customer Response

Unfortunately there isn't much truth to Mr. Handyman's response. The only reason the project was more complicated than some was because it wasn't installed correctly. When the technician expressed that it wouldn't fit I offered to have someone familiar with the shower installation to guide him but he refused (he also could have called the company's 800 number and they would have talked him through the installation). The only thing discussed prior to starting the work was the cost and time needed which I agreed to but didn't happen. There were definitely 2 chips and after Mr Handyman didn't want to take responsibility to have them fixed I spoke to Ferguson's who I purchased the shower from and they understood the importance of a happy customer. They promptly repaired the chips with no cost to me even though it wasn't their responsibility and stated they would deal with Mr Handyman if necessary. Stating the technician removed the dirt or debris was untrue because it was chips and not dirt or debris. The only truth was the trimming of the enclosure with no cost to me. If they would have installed it correctly there wouldn't have been a need for trim which consisted of what looked like pieces of wood from a trash bin that were tacked around the shower. Looks awful but it fits with the rest of the subpar work done.

We just moved to Wichita 3 weeks ago and needed a gas line put in the kitchen for a new gas stove. I called 4 plumbers and only one showed up to give me an estimate (which we have yet to receive). It was an easy job as the basement below the kitchen was fully exposed. Daniel called me - quoted me time and materials and I said GO! He brought it in on time and reasonably within my budget and did a clean and respectable job. Very impressed with this outfit.

My wife made an appt. to have a technician come and fix a possible leak in the master bathroom that she thought was making the adjoining bedroom wood flooring creak. (Possibly becoming unstable.) she was told that it would cost an initial $50.00 to come, then $118.00/hr and would take 4 hours. After she talked to the business, I called back and talked to the scheduler. I said that I didn't see how the wood plank flooring could be repaired in 4 hours. She assured me that if it was a job he couldn't do, there would be no charge. He came and said the toilet wasn't leaking and there was nothing he could do about the floor. A few minutes later, he said the creaking was probably due to the subfloor adhesive becoming loose causing the nails to squeak when moving up and down. Screws could be placed if the noise was a problem but the floor was safe. He asked us if there were any jobs we'd like him to due since the hour was going to cost us $118.00. Gosh, quick! What could we have him do?. So, we had him change a lightbulb. He charged us $168.00. I was stunned. I paid it and waited to calm down and ithe next day I called the business. Eventually, they said they would refund my money. 2 weeks have passed. I called and the woman said that she would look into it. Crickets...nothing. It was an expensive light bulb.
