In 2016 I was sent to Prairie View for an attempted suicide. I stayed in patient for three days, and on that third day I was feeling a lot better. They told me my insurance wouldn’t pay anymore if I was feeling better, so I was discharged. Fast forward to 2019/2020 I received a bill in the mail for 986$ randomly. I called Prairie view once received and asked why I was just getting this bill, they told me “ you probably did receive bills you just thought it was spam mail so you threw it away” when I KNOW I never received a bill. I called back a few weeks later to set up payment plans and they told me that my balance was actually 0$. I mentioned I was told I had a bill and they said they were switching to new system so it was miscommunication. Now, in 2024 the State reached out to me that I owed 1002.36$ to Prairie View. I called and spoke to ***** who told me that it was sent to collections because they couldn’t get ahold of me and when it’s sent there, on their side my debt is shown as 0$. She also mentioned that in 2019 or so they were switching to a new system and a lot of the people were unaware of how to check for certain things. They never tried to reach me. I have had the same phone number for the last 10 years. This is unethical behavior from a mental health facility.
