I moved into an apartment on December 5, 2021, I have the lease agreement. During my stay I had no heat from December until February, I used space heaters and my electric fireplace to keep the house warm, the wall furnace was spilling gas out. Landlord had been notified and finally had a split system installed. Then plumbing problems started, I notified the landlord, and he sent over a worker to address it. The worker didn't shut the water off to pull the toilet and it leaked downstairs onto my chair, which stained. I helped the worker clean the water up. Worker replaced the drain pipes. I contacted the landlord about mid-July to let him know the downstairs plumbing was backing up. No help. Contacted him again in September, same plumbing issue. *************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** I gave the landlord a call and asked about my lease? I technically wasn't up until Dec. 5th, 2022. I packed up and moved to help my Dad. I notified the landlord that I was moving out, hired a professional cleaning company to clean the rental. They couldn't do it because the sewer system is still backed up. She met with him, and he told her to carry water from the adjacent apartment. I paid him $*** in a security deposit. I tried multiple times to get ahold of him, he wouldn't respond. I finally heard from him two days ago and he said the apartment wasn't clean and he didn't have the key back. I contacted the cleaning company and that's when I found out what happened. I have no mailing address for him, all I know is his first name is Rashan. I moved out Nov 19, told him I didn't need a refund on the rent. I have moved to ********************************. I would really appreciate your help.

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2023/01/03) */ The apartment has 2 heating units. One went out and the tenant agreed to supplement heating with space heaters till we could get a split unit installed. Rent was reduced for the inconvenience. Plumbing issues were always a complaint but plumbers have taken a look at it and can't find a block. Moreover, tenant has used all toilet and sink facilities since July, which would be impossible if sewer was backing up. Any talk on selling the property was always with the current leases in mind. Tenants were made aware that any sale would not violate their existing leases. I got the key back to the apartment at the end of December. I have communicated the charges to the tenant and am returning $***. Money has been sent and waiting for tenant to receive it. The charges are due to pet damage from 3 dogs and 2 cats. Tenant was a good tenant that paid on time and was easy to work with. Tenant was always pleasant and got along well with the other tenants. Apartment was just not a good fit, which was unfortunate.
