Some employees deserve 5+, some deserve 0, so I decided to select 2. Used agency from 12/21-1/23. High turnover. Had some scheduling issues, initially seemed they were utilizing me to train their employees, even though they claim on website they are trained. They usually sent new hires. I was getting burned out & when my hub went through several hospitalizations summer 2022 & became in need of more personal care I had to put my foot down & request to not be used for training new people. Often employees wanted to leave early, I was accommodating for family situations, however, otherwise I generally did not allow b/c VA contracted service & told me it was fraud if they left early. In the fall I was in need of overnight help for 2-3 weekends for personal reasons. One man they sent didn’t know how to microwave *** ***** pre-made Mashed potatoes. Then when I went to sleep he curled up in a chair & slept, even though I told him he needed to watch the patient. Agency wanted to dictate schedule according to my hubs appts to maximize their billable hours. When I realized this was causing me stress I began telling them what hours help was needed. The scheduling was done by an employee in Brazil. The owner is in FL, PR person, who helped start is in Richmond, owner’s brother in Berea + office mgr. - the latter always sweet. My advise to anyone is to request proof of training. Even though we all may have our ways of doing things, it’s not your responsibility to train. Though they contract with the VA, I was provided a contract to sign not long ago that potentially placed liability for some legal fees on if applicable on us. Being well educated I refused to sign & am now utilizing a new agency. They carry insurance for this purpose & it made no sense.
