1/4/22 and 1/18/22 purchased a motor and core. States that we had 30 days to return if it didn’t work which is also stated on the receipt. Contacted ******* on 1/25/22 to notify that the motor would not work and we wanted to return it. Stated that motor would need to be placed on vehicle because it will work despite condition of motor. Proceeded to put motor in vehicle and it did not work as the mechanic had stated. This was an additional cost to us for the extra work and when ******* was contacted again he stated that all but 25% could be refunded. When trying to return the motor on 2/15 he stated that the motor was not the one that he gave us and that the 30 day timeframe had expired. We made contact by phone and email on 1/25/22 within the 20 day timeframe and due to ******* staying that he has to contact other people and would get back with us the timeframe has lapsed but contact had already been made. 4700 total was paid for a motor and core that we could not exchange.

      Response to ****** *****  complaint ID# ********:

      Date: 02/18/2022

On 01/04/2022 ****** ***** ordered an engine for Escalade, he ask me if there was warranty, I replied yes, 30-day warranty from the date of purchase, which covers the cylinders and block only. Core must be returned within 10 days of the engine delivery date to the customer. He agreed and paid for the engine (3400.00). I explained to him it may take a few weeks to get in. then on 1/14/2022 or 1/17/2022, I called ****** and explained there was core charge, and the engine was ready to ship, there was a core charge 900.00 plus the ship/pu cost was 200.00. ****** came in on the 2/18/2022 and paid the amount. The engine came in on 1/19-1/21/2022.  The warranty started on 1/18/2022, the core return date started on 1/18/2022. A few days after ****** picked the engine up, he called on 02/01/2022 and said the engine was bad, and it had a leaking water pump and bolt broke off, ( he send pictures of water pump and bolt on engine via email),  I ask, if he had installed the engine he said no, I then explained that the cylinders and block where only covered, and how does he know the engine is bad you have not even installed it, he said OK. Then a week later he called and said he was just going to return the engine and just wanted his core money back only, I said that was ok, I ask, he had installed the engine he said no. Then a week or so later he called and said the engine was bad the cylinders where bad, I ask how you know he said it was installed, I told him to bring it back and let us look at it and we would go from there. (We mark all our engines, several places). I explained to him we would have to look over the engine to make sure all the marking where there. On 2/15/2022, and stated he wanted all his money back, not just the core, I replied to him that the core time had already expired, and I would have to look over the engine. Once we looked over the engine, we found that several marking and pieces where missing. So, I took the picture that ****** sent me and showed him that the engine he bought back was not the engine we sold him, pictures do not lie, and they were ******** pictures of the engine. I showed him all the evidence, and he did not really say anything, he just said give me the engine back, so we loaded it back up. Then I heard, him call some mechanic and ask him if would install it. We honor all our customers that are honest. We treat customer like family, look at our ****** reviews for the past year. We strive on doing the right thing. But in this case the customer tried to return something that was not what we sold him.

      Customer response

      02/21/2022

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

      Regards,

      ** *** *** ******

We are not satisfied with the response because we have emails showing that we made contact with the business about returning the motor prior to the date stated in his response. We wanted the money for the motor and the money for the core and he knew that.  When we first contacted him to return the motor he told us that he would have to contact the place in Indiana first.  It took him a week to get back with us regarding a response. We did ask to return it before putting it on the vehicle because our mechanic said that it wasn’t going to work.  We went with the word of our mechanic which was correct because when he put it in the motor did not work.  We didn’t want to put it in first knowing per the mechanic that it wasnt going to work because we had to pay another 600 for putting it in and taking it back out.  Which we had to do all for something that he knew wouldn’t work.  The motor that was picked up is the same motor that was returned.  The mechanic that he is referring to is the same person that was there to pick the motor up.  The only person that ** ******* was talking to was me his wife and co owner of the vehicle.  So no ** ******* was not taking to a mechanic as the mechanic was on site.  I am not sure what Parrish did to the motor as they told ** ******* that he was not allowed to go back with them to inspect the motor. So how do I know that they did not remove the markings that they are referring to.
