Renovation on master bedroom and bathroom which included sheet vinyl flooring to be laid with old flooring removed, new dry wall in master bedroom/bathroom with old being removed as well as fix any wall imperfections in areas there wouldn’t be dry wall, remove old shower to turn into closet, install tub/shower combo, install new vanity, new floor trim and paint. •Flooring was laid improperly - missing pieces and not all the way to wall. •Trim not painted or caulked correctly nor do they meet and one was wall of trim is broke. •Shower stopped working, tub walls coming away from structured wall. •Imperfections in new dry wall. •paint and glue on new shower fixtures and flooring. •Flooring is “bubbling” where glue was not laid. Purchased tools on our Home Depot card and did not inform us, nor remove the cost of these from total quote and did not leave the items. Started this project in 10/23/23. “Finished” 11/03/23. Contacted back to fix problems. Contractor returned on 11/06/23. Only thing he did was remove paint in some areas, not all, he recaulked shower walls and painted over trim again. Contacted contractor again on 12/02/23 regarding shower not working, advised he would charge to come back out to fix his installation. Called a plumber 12/18/23 to fix the issue. Plumber advised materials used were not installed properly and out of code. Finally, pictures company has used for their social media and Google are from a company in Texas and is not his work - so copyright infringement.

      Business response

      12/21/2023

I provided the repair services as stated (and approved by the client) on the Project Specifications which was provided to the customer prior to the start of the project. The final payment was received from the customer on 11/06/2023 after the customer was fully satisfied with the outcome of this project. The final payment was also submitted after all the necessary additional repairs had been completed as indicated in the attached photos. The current repairs are being requested a month after the project completion due to the deffectiveness of the customer supplied materials used. This is not as a result of bad initial installation already completed but due to the deffectiveness of the supplied materials.  I charged the client for installation labor only, not for the supplied materials. Any additional labor services (be it within days) after the initial install requires additional labor charge and at my discretion to provide the additional unpaid for labor services being requested. The client has merely filled this complaint in an attempt to tarnish my name for not getting a free maintenance service on a completed project.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

This is our first experience in hiring a contractor. The only materials chosen for this job by us, the consumers, were the colors of the paint, the flooring, baseboards, vanity, tub and shower fixtures. As far as the materials it takes to install these items, were the contractor’s choice; the glue to put the flooring down and the equipment for this (again, purchased on our dime and kept even though this was not agreed upon and can be considered theft by deception), the joint compound for drywall, what type of drywall used, the plumbing to install the tub and tub fixtures. All of the install materials were chosen by the contractor and as new consumers, we trusted this process and materials used as we looked for a professional opinion of what could or couldn’t be used in this project. Since then, the plumbing to the shower fixtures has failed (due to out of date material used not up to code) leaked into our new drywall and the flooring laid is bubbling up from the subfloor throughout the entirety of the project as it was also not laid, cut nor glued properly. This has nothing to do with tarnishing anyone’s name, but has everything to do with not accepting the outcome of the work and the poorly done job of this project by the contractor that is now being corrected by other certified plumbers and contractors pass than 30 days later after install. If materials suggested by contractor are used and fail, especially within a short amount of time, the contractor should fix these issues since it’s his cause in the first place as the one who recommended, chose and installed those parts (this is the point of hiring a professional, to accept the professionals opinion and recommendation on materials of install). Out of fear under threat of lawsuit by contractor and  fear of safety, the last payment was made. Now with confirmation from others, I know contractor was in the wrong.

      Sincerely,
       ******** ******

For many years I have been in this line of work and have had nothing but satified customers on every project.

The customer says that their goal was not aimed at tarnishing the contractor's name and work ethic yet has published on social media the results of this project using photos of the project which were taken prior to project completion. I have the most recent photos of the entire project upto the last day and all the  communications. I have been open on communication with everything that was needed for the project including store receipts.

For the 80+ photos and receipts I'm not able to load those here due to the size but i can email it if needed.

The only tool(s) puchased  did not exceed $80 in value and in return the client was issued a $150 Discount as indicated on the invoice. I have not threatened the client for failure to submit any payment by simply mentioning that failure to submit payment without a reason is subjust to a lawsuit, that isn't a threat, its a fact. The client is also entitled to refuse submitting payment if the project isn't completed to satisfaction or if they feel they were ripped off. I'm prepared for that as well.

This's my last communication because I'm not going back n forth on this. I 100% stand by my work ethic and i completed this project excactly as noted on the Project Specifications.
