They started remodeling my bathroom May 11th. Was told that they would have it done before my *** got out of hospital (2 weeks). Was originally quoted $ 4752.43 and was told it would actually be cheaper than this because ***** (adjuster) quotes high. I ended up having to purchase most of the supplies myself because after I gave a $2000 deposit for supplies the workers kept showing up without any supplies. I purchased $1000 in supplies which would have taken total to $3752 owed due to the fact of the adjuster never purchasing anything. The only thing the workers showed up with was 1 piece of plywood, 2 - 2x4's, plumbing piping. They was aware of everything they would need to do before estimate was created (even rerouting plumbing) wanted oil rubbed bronze and they put in silver fittings . The adjuster took the key holder off my door June 13th and told me it was no longer needed because my bathroom would be done before they left that day. It was not done at the end of day. ***** told me she would return June 15th so I canceled my ******* doctors appointment since I would have to let them in. I waited the whole entire day and she never showed and texted me at 3pm saying she wasn't coming. June 17th she texted and said she would arrive the 20th to finish job - she never showed. Went from June 23 to July 6th without hearing from her then every day she suggested was not doable for me. To this day August 10th my bathroom is still not completed and have received a bill for $5595.41. I have spoken to the owner who acted like he would take care of us on the phone but then sent an email just deducting $1261.08 which is down to what original estimate was. I don't think I should have to pay anything considering it is not done the way it was supposed to be and there are so many things that are messed up that I am going to have to pay to have someone fix. They don't even have $2k worth of work in my bathroom not in supplies and certainly notlabor

There is never any guarantee on a completion time of a remodel when working on any home. Had we not run into the unforeseen issues we believe the project would have been completed sooner however there were several issues uncovered. Our original estimate of $4,752.43 only included the labor and material per request.  As far as supplies go, we have record of over $1,500.00 spent in material alone not including delivery. Regarding the oil rubbed bronze; homeowner didn't specify the ****** lines/shut offs also being oil rubbed bronze.  Those would have been an additional expense of approx. $400 had we known.  In regards to labor we had the following work done over the course of the approx. 1 month onsite (45 min drive-one way from our office); 2 man demo crew to remove shower, vanity, flooring, trim, shelving etc, a plumber for rough in, shower setting and finish plumbing work, flooring installer and painter/carpenter.  We were never able to coordinate our final punch list trip due to the many attempts being shut down by the homeowner.  After 3 attempts to make it out to the home we adjusted our estimate down to reflect that final work not being completed.  The bathroom was fully operational before our attempts to wrap up the punch list and the homeowner was made aware of that fact.  Homeowner requested an updated estimate prior to finishing the punch list items and it did reflect the additional/unforeseen items as well as an items being credited that we didn't complete.  The additional items were plumbing related i.e. toilet flange, shower drain issues and floor joist issues.  The credited items were a toilet (material) as the homeowner purchased it and the punch list i.e. trim and paint touch ups.  In conclusion, the labor is justified and the materials are documented.  We brought our estimate back down to the original total of $4,752.43 in order to settle up and merely recover what we had invested in the bathroom.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[The company does not have $4,752.43 in this project at all, let alone the quality of work that has been done to justify that amount. You stated in your reply that you have $1500 in supplies in this project and I have given $2000 so there is $500 left that you can apply to labor which the quality of work is really not even worth that but I would be willing to let that go. I have video footage and recordings of everything. You can see in the pictures provided in the email that I have taken from video footage that is constantly recording at my house that the only items that was delivered to my house as far as supplies go is 1 piece of plywood, Shower and 2 - 2x4's that were actually set next to my house for several weeks even after the shower was installed and flooring done. I provided a audio recording of me talking to adjuster ***** about issues she has with the plumber and she very clearly states that if he would have worked when he was supposed to he could have completed job in 2 days and not weeks (and her saying this proves that THEY NEVER RAN INTO ANY ISSUES THEY DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT BEFORE HAND BECAUSE HAD THEY RAN INTO ISSUES SHE WOULDN'T HAVE EXPECTED HIM TO COMPLETE JOB IN 2 DAYS.). She actually states several things in this audio about how the plumber likes to milk the clock and you can hear her in the recording talking about taking pictures of everything she was going to make him come back and fix because he messed up alot of stuff. The only thing that got delayed in the project is the adjuster ordered the wrong size shower after measuring my bathroom and I had to call ******* ****** and tell them to hold the correct size. About the silver lines and fittings - would you want oil rubbed bronze on everything and then have those things silver that stick out like a sore thumb in your bathroom? As a customer I should have been asked "you said you wanted oil rubbed bronze does that mean you want the fittings as well to be because they cost x amount of dollars.  I would have had no issues paying for stuff I had requested if it cost more but wasn't even given the choice or option. I should not have to fulfill my end of a contract when the company never fulfilled their end of the contract. I definitely shouldn't have to pay extra just because your company has subcontracted to someone you cant trust to do a good job and he took way longer than expected because he milked the clock and messed up several things and had to come back several times to redo stuff.  I am more than happy to let someone from BBB come into my home and see the mess that I am left with. Yes I turned her down 3 times to come do anymore work because my *** is constantly at doctor appointments now and I cannot stay home all day long in hopes someone comes when I was stood up three times already. I canceled several important appointments to wait on her and she never showed.  If the job was not complete the key holder should have never been removed from my house. I have tons of video footage and pictures and audio recordings to back up my claims. The receipts the company has for anything that was bought  could be for any project for anyone's home there would be no proof it was for mine except the shower that was $900. I even have footage of one of the employees casing my shed and I am assuming looking to see what they could steal when they say "Oh shit they got cameras" so very stand up employees that you believe to be telling you the truth on anything they have done in my home. The only  solution I am going to be happy with is the company writing off the rest of the bill - keep the $2000 I have already provided that covers supplies and labor that was done - but beyond that no one in this company did work beyond the $2000 deposit. I hope we can resolve this.  ]

      Regards,

After receiving the second reply, it seems that we are not going to be able to reach a settlement.  To date, we have an A+ rating with the BBB and it is because we do fair and honest work.  We have spent more than we are attempting to collect. Our true cost includes gas, insurance, vehicle wear and tear, trash bags/consumables, disposal of debris, drive time labor, and project management wages that do not get applied to the job.

We are going to close this job as bad debt on our end. We will not be back to finish the punch list (trim work pictured/ touch up paint) and there will be no warranty on any of the work completed because the job was not paid in full.

We hope that we can close this matter and move forward respectfully.

[I guess we wont. What does this mean exactly that you are closing it on your end as bad debt? How will that affect me?]
