I believe Pride intentionally makes canceling a membership unduly difficult in order to continue billing people who no longer use their services. I moved from KY to out of state, in August 2020. I had not used Pride's gym since prior to them closing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I thought they had stopped charging for membership because the gym was closed; therefore, I was surprised to see a charge for a 1-year membership on my credit card statement in Feb/March 2021. I visited Pride's website to cancel my membership and remove my credit card information from their system. I did not see a way to do either on their website. I emailed them via the "contact us" link on their website. I described that I had moved out of state, and was no longer using the gym. I asked that they remove the charge from my credit card and cancel my membership. I did not receive a reply, nor did they remove the charge. I made multiple phone calls to Pride. No one ever answered the phone. I called at different times of the day, knowing their office hours are later in the day. I left numerous voicemails, describing the situation, asking them to reverse the charge and cancel my membership, and asked for a return phone call. On 1/19/22, I received an email that was sent to all gym members explaining that membership cancellations must be made in person with identification. I was surprised to receive this email because I thought my membership had already been cancelled, as I had requested it to be on multiple occasions. Prior to this email, no one told me that I had to cancel the membership in person. I would have to drive 5 hours round trip and take a day off from work to cancel my membership in person. With today's technology, there is no reason a membership cancellation couldn't be made on their website, through a video call, or in writing. I'd like is to be credited for $265 (2022 membership) and preferably also for the 2021 membership, neither of which I've used.
