In August 2021, Marco Barrios Hernandez, owner MMJ Masonry & Roofing replaced my chimney top with a concrete chimney crown cap. Marco asked me to give his company a good review which I did in September of 2021. Later part of 2022 I noticed what I thought to be paint chips from the crown cap falling off onto my roof. I didn’t think much about it since I was planning on replacing my roof and had not used the fireplace since MMJ Masonry had installed the cap. In 2023, in the process of getting estimates to determine the costs to replace my roof it became apparent that the paint chips included bits of concrete. From November 17, 2023, through December 27, I called Marco Barrios Hernandez four times. Three times he agreed to meet me at my house and never showed up. On December 27, 2023, he showed up and promised me he, MMJ Masonry would replace the chimney top with the correct amount of mixed concrete. However, he would have to wait until next year when it was warm enough for the concrete to settle. On May 9, 2024, I called Marco Hernandez and left a message on his cell phone asking when he was going to replace my chimney top? No response. On June 21, 2024, I called him again and left a message. He later returned my call and said he would have his employees out there that afternoon to replace the chimney top. No show. While drafting this letter to the Better Business Bureau on July 15, I thought I would give Mr. Hernandez one more chance and called him and left a message. He later that day returned my call and as usual promised me his employees would be out there this coming Friday or Saturday. I didn’t take him seriously but at his point, I decided to give him one more chance to make things right. To date no show.
