Valvoline instant Oil Change in Bethalto, IL is a joke!! My daughter took her car there yesterday for an oil change, after the oil change there was oil on our carport, where she parks, and not just a little bit! we go to where she is so my husband can check it and we find a tool left up in her car and my husband had to tighten the oil filter. she takes it back today and they tell her that they just didn’t wipe up old oil and that’s what was leaking and told her that the tool isn’t theirs but they kept it! I call up there and speak to the manager, David, and proceed to ask him if the tool wasn’t theirs how did the worker who performed the oil change not see it while changing the oil and he tells me that she must have picked it up from the road after the oil change. I said so The tool magically jumped up off the road and attached itself to her car?! He said it happens all the time. They are refusing to give her a new oil change or refund. I called corporate and explained what happened and she puts me on hold to call David the manager and then she gets back on the line and proceeds to tell me exactly what he told me and when I told her it was ridiculous and they are a joke and I would be leaving a review she hung up on me!! We will NEVER go back to Valvoline!!Review from Anjay S.

So I got an oil change on 1/29/24. The next day, I see white smoke coming out of the pipe. Didn’t know what to think of it so I drove my wife’s car to work that day. When I had a chance I went back down to the shop and ask what they did to my car because the whole year and a half I had this car and never once had a problem. I come to this business and I leave with white smoke out the pipe and a new check engine light is just crazy considering I spent over $100 on this oil change. I went to Autozone to get a reading on my check engine light and they told me that it was a cylinder 3 misfire. I don’t know what to do with this information because it’s my first time experiencing stuff like this. Fast forward a few months later, come to find out, there was coolant leaking into my head gasket. I never opened the hood of this car expect when I got the reading at Autozone a few days after seeing the white smoke. I have to go to work so I’m driving my car meanwhile trying to come to a conclusion on what needs to be done to fix my car so check engine light that’s on. One day while I’m at work my car decided to not start at all. Turns out that it was my starter that stopped working. A few weeks later, I replaced the starter and check engine light comes off. A few hours or so later, light comes back on again while white smoke existed. So I spend more money towing my car, fixing starter that I found out was due to leaking coolant getting into my head gasket. About 2 weeks later, my starter went out again and once again I got it replaced. This time when I got a reading from Autozone it says spark plugs and ignition coils. I replaced those expecting that, that was it but no, the problem continued as I was driving home one day. My engine made a loud bang sound as I was driving one day so I immediately pulled over to the side of the road. I recovered pieces of what seem to be oil pan and there was oil leaking. So now I’m replacing a whole engine that cost over $5,000.Review from Margaret S

This place is a joke!!! AVOID. AVOID. AVOID. I went to my local Valvoline to use a Groupon for a synthetic blend oil change. I have owned my SUV for 10 years and my owners manual clearly states synthetic blend. They would NOT change my oil because the manufacturer in their computer states I need full synthetic. Umno I dont. I am still trying to get my money back from *******. That was their solution.Review from James H

If you are planning to use Valvoline oil change service, please read my note to their corporate office before using them -I just came back from your new location in ***********, ** where I wanted to get my oil changed on my 2018 ********************** with ***** miles. After 5 minutes under the car by your staff, I was told that they could not change my oil because the drain plug was starting to get rounded and wanted me to get the part as "their supplies were not in yet". I responded that they should get the part as the oil has been changed 6 times and this was never an issue.Spending 5 plus minutes seems to indicate that they did not have the correct tool/ knowledge to remove a simple, straight forward part.I feel that it is your responsibility to resolve this at a location that has experienced personnel that honors their 50% off grand opening price vs. a bunch of polite, but very young kids who obviously have little experience. I look forward to having this issue resolved.Thank you,THEIR RESPONSE - ZERO. THEIR RESPONSE TO SECOND NOTE PLACED ON THEIR SITE - ZERO.It is clear that Valvoline has no interest in addressing legitimate customer issues and, frankly, their blatant, f... You attitude shows the integrity ( or lack thereof ) they have corporately. There are other venues who DO VALUE their customersReview from Andre H

Horrible service. Dismissive staff and management. Inexperienced with foreign cars. STORE ***** in ********, ** Will never return my vehicle for service. Thought since I was in the area, I could get a harmless oil change done. Big mistake. For an oil change that cost $150+ before coupon, I expected it to be done correctly, but.Immediately after driving off I noticed my transmission wouldnt go into 2nd gear leaving the parking lot. Drivetrain Malfunction error popped on my screen, to which I circled around & shared with the **** Manager did a test drive in the parking lot, but due to the lower speed/RPM, he didnt get the same feedback as me (on top of him mentioning he wouldnt know what the difference feels like, since its not his car)Long story short, they assured me it would be okay, but I still wanted the fault code read at the Auto Zone next door. Only says Power Train System: P18D1. Tried driving to my mechanic, but the issue got worse, and stickier as I drove toward ****************. Ended up being towed. My mechanic discovered they drained my transmission fluid, along with my oil, but only refilled the oil. Apparently the 10 point inspection isnt really done on foreign cars, although the receipt shows my fluid levels were checked. The 10 miles I drove (after Valvoline said I was good) couldve really damaged my transmission further. Shouldve been addressed immediately after service, however I was rushed out the 2nd time. I understand mistakes, but own up to and fix them, instead of gaslighting me to believe my car was that way before. Its ridiculous. $150 oil change caused about $400 in towing and transmission repairs, on top of missing work for the day. Id be lucky if this doesnt cause another transmission issue within 5000 miles.Review from Dana F

This place is an absolute joke. They stripped my drain plug and put it in crooked with an impact drill. I go to take it in to *** for another repair and they tell me this. I call the manager at the ************ location which she tells me there is no way that could happen please bring it up to the shop so I can look at it or start a claim. I bring the car there and she goes down to look at it and says its torquing just fine. I say okay then can you speak to *** and tell them that and ******* says I have to talk to my GM first and she would call me back. Of course I never hear from her. I put in a claim anyway because I cannot afford a $1600 drain pain replacement. No one calls me back for weeks. I continue to call and no call back. I call ******* again and she says oh I didnt know I was supposed to call you back and Ill get my area manager to call you. ********************* finally calls to tell me she was out and they denied my claim because my car was just over ******* miles **** what? So no one cared to call me back and let me know it was denied? She assumed it was taken care of she says as she says. So I take my car to a *** specialist today for an oil change being I'm due for it. They wont even try to take the plug out because its in the hole crooked and if they do I will need the new oil pan right there because they wont be able to get it back in. Sherrys boss ********************* calls me back today to tell me he stands by ****** and the claim is denied. They are 100% wrong in this situation and wont stand by it. Please dont go here.Review from Chad W

I went to the ************************************************* to have both my vehicles serviced. One was my23 Pathfinder and I noticed a puddle under my vehicle after a few months. The dipstick was halfway out and oil was coming through. Luckily, it was a half a quart low and it didnt get wrapped up in the engine. They refunded my charge. I wasnt going back. Took my 17 Escape in to a more reputable shop and my oil filter was so tight they had to use a screwdriver to punch through it to get it off. The gasket was damaged. On top of it, my bottom cover was missing screws. I sent a complaint to their customer service and waiting on a response. I mentioned I will *** for negligence if I have any oil related problems. Two vehicles from the same owner. Not acceptable. I have all of my documents to prove the fact.Review from Katelynn W

In regards to Valvoline in Wilson NC on Raleigh Rd Parkway. I am truly appalled, this has been by far the worst customer experience/service I have ever had the displeasure of being involved in. It is ironic that they advertise car care because expecting your car to leave in the same condition as it arrived is too much of an ask for this place. Would give a zero if possible. My husband is an engineer by trade and he normally does all my own oil changes and took my car there to get a standard oil change since I was in a time crunch. Pretty simple right, I thought so too. They for some reason(incompetence?) threw away the drain plug that was 100 percent functional and had no issues with previously every time we have changed the oil for the entire history we have owned the car. They DID NOT TELL ME that they changed this plug. Was not communicated verbally or in the comments on the receipt. The threaded plug they replaced it with was the incorrect thread size and ended up damaging the threads in the oil pan once torqued causing a leak path to form. After a week of the car sitting at there shop no claim had been filed or started. I had to call and make a claim. Upper management did nothing. The customer service department did nothing. I still haven’t yet to receive a call from them. Every time there has been some communication it was initiated by me. I was told they would fix the threads in the pan. When I got there they put a pan saver rubber plug on the car as a “fix” for the damage THEY introduced to my car. So not only did they damage my car, they didn’t provide a robust solution. As the rubber puck on the pan saver will degrade and leak again. And to top it off, we can’t remove it without taking the oil pan off since there are now pan saver components in the oil pan that will fall off and be unsecured. Causing more work for me rather than if they hadn’t touched it at all. Stay far away from this place.Review from Arielle S

My husband and I took our SUV in for a transmission fluid flush Friday 3/1/24. Saturday, we took the car back because it doesnt sound good (rattling, etc.). Mechanics said they couldnt hear it. I can hear it and I dont know anything about cars.Got an appointment with ***** dealer today and brought it in. The transmission pump is blown and the whole of the transmission needs replacing. There was nothing wrong with the transmission prior to Valvoline touching the car.
