I attended the Nash Academy from November 6 2023- Jan 26 2024. I spent a total of 10,000 on schooling and tools that they had us buy. They promised that in 10 weeks I would be ready to be on my own as a groomer. This is not the case. They have too many students for the amount of instructors. There is not enough one on one training. They should be upfront that 10 weeks is a good base. I brought it to the attention of the Human Resources lady named *** ***** and she did nothing. I am looking to get some of my tuition back as I am 20,000 in hole with all of the expenses I had to pay for while I was there. I took out a loan so I have written proof of everything I paid for. The school also makes money off of the students because they charge money for the dogs we work on and we clean everything. 10,000 per student times 9 students plus all the money we make them. Seems like a pretty good scam to me.Business response

Nash Academy states that we will teach the basic skills necessary to begin a career in grooming and styling pets in a 400 or 600-hour program. The current job placement rate for Nash Academy graduates is 95%. While nearly all students who enroll in the Nash Academy graduate and go right into grooming careers working in salons or opening their own successful businesses, Nash Academy makes no promise or guarantee that all students will pass the courses or be successful. No school can do that. Enrollment in a school does not guarantee these things. The student/instructor ratio in the classroom is 6 to 1, as approved by the state.
Nash Academy offers all students the option to extend their classes and stay on longer at no added tuition charge if additional training time is needed to graduate and be successful. In addition, all graduates have the opportunity to come back to Nash Academy for refresher training at no additional tuition cost. As a graduate, this is an option that is open to you.
Although Nash Academy has a full-time custodial employee who cleans during the school day, students are required to do a certain amount of cleaning. This is well below the amount that will be expected when they enter the workforce. Nash Academy’s programs are designed to train professional groomers who are ready to enter the workforce. To this end, the programs also focus on professionalism, safety, and sanitation. Students are taught to properly clean, sanitize, and care for their equipment, stations, kennels, and general salon areas. This is one of the factors that sets Nash Academy graduates apart and makes them some of the most highly sought-after employees in the industry.
Nash Academy also functions as a full-service grooming salon. This is the method of providing the students with various breeds of dogs on which to learn and hone their skills. Without dogs to groom, no training opportunities would exist. This is the same principle and method used in all trade schools.
