In April of 2023 I filed my taxes using Stuart’s Tax Service. After two weeks they call me to pick up my completed paperwork. At that point I paid the $50.00 service fee. I owed a significant amount to federal but was to receive $944 state return. Few weeks later I was told I needed to refile as there was an error and came back to resign. Was told to then to expect a check for my state return with in 8-10 weeks. After another 12 weeks from second file, I followed up with Kentucky Treasury and was told my state taxes were never filed and all fines and fees will be on me. I contacted Stuart’s tax office, with no care, they act oblivious to the situation. The owner will not contact me, and the phone operator is not a tax person nor has access to any information. They said they will take care of it next year. That is unacceptable and they said they will look into it. Now weeks later, still no call no email, or any contact from Stuarts Tax Services. I contact them and all they can say is they filed it, but can not provide a date or any prof it has been filed. Refusing to provide any prof of file, contact me to address the situation, or working with the treasury to take care of any fees. At this point I feel this is theft and causing additional financial and legal hardships due to their negligence. I paid for a service. Service was not performed. Potential fines and penalties incurred by me for their refusal to take any action. They should not be able to operate a legal business or service important as tax compliance. Taxes are a complex set of rules and regulations, which is why a citizen would choose what they believe to be a professional to properly handle such important paperwork. To take money for service, not preform, and have no regard for the ramifications caused to the customer is criminal, and I should not have to chase this down and spend my time and money to correct their incompetence. I should be made whole immediately and they should be fine/penalized.Initial Complaint

I took my taxes to ****** in April 2021- she had them done within a couple weeks and I picked them up. It took a few months to receive my federal refund check in the mail, which I was waiting on to send to my trustee for my ch 13 bankruptcy. When I got the check and went to get all my paperwork together to mail in I realized she had only filed taxes on one W2, when I turned in two. I reached out and she asked for lots of info, all of which I promptly sent. The last thing she asked for was ** **** name and social, which I sent long over a month ago. She now won’t return text messages, won’t return phone calls or voicemails. My bankruptcy could potentially be dismissed because I still have not been able to get my amended return from her.
