Date of transaction June 19-22,2023 Refacing of cabinet doors and drawers and repainting cabinets. I paid 1/2 down payment prior to work at the time of scheduling in April 2023. Contractor removed stain from counter tops with tape, sprayed blue paint on ceiling, removed existing paint from walls and ceilings with tape, lost new drawer knobs then refused to install k one on drawers. He stated was complimentary and that he chose not to complete that portion of the work for me although he completes it for all other customers. He Accused me of lying and stated the knobs were never purchased despite witnessing observed me providing knobs to his crew. Refused to install hardware on drawers. Yelled at me, was extremely disrespectful, said he would not return to my home to restore areas not completed because I was an angry black woman. Made several racial slurs to me and said he refused to honor his contract. Contractor stated if I wanted him to restore my home and retouch my walls he would demand half of the balance due in advance and rewrite a special contract for black people only. He said he would not return my knobs or install them. ***** ***** the owner was rude to me made reference to several racial stereotypes and stated unless I paid him another 25% of the contract in advance of making repairs he would place a lien against my property. I would like the contractor to restore my home by painting the small area where the ceiling tape was buckled, paint the ceiling where blue paint was sprayed, replace the knobs I purchased and install them onto the drawers, and replace the small areas of paint where the tape removed the paint. I will pay the other half (or the balance in full) upon completion of the work. I am in receipt of the original contract and am willing to honor it. I will not however submit to an email addendum to our original contract because the contractor does not like dealing with a Black female. I am a senior citizen and the disrespect and arguments with the contractor have resulted in additional stress and health issues. I am afraid.Business response

Upon completion of the project for this customer, there were a few areas where our tape removed paint from her walls & during the process of respraying her cabinets, we did get some overspray on her ceiling. There was no refusal to install knobs. She claimed that my techs stole the ones she had purchased & then refused to show me which ones they were so I could replace them, stating that she didn’t have time to do that. It was never said that I wouldn’t install her knobs even though I do install them for other customers. I did not witness the customer handing the knobs to my team, as I wasn’t even on location that day. My schedule can verify these details. In all conversations with this customer, I never raised my voice, but she often raised hers to the point that I couldn’t speak. She has stated that this entire incident is a racial issue on my part, this is not true. I never made racial slurs or stereotypes or called her names, although she has frequently made insulting & derogatory comments about me personally as well as about my business. I never made a threat against her, but she has made numerous threats against me. Despite her framing herself as a victim, and making up lies about this project, I am happy to engage an outside contractor to touch up the areas we are responsible for. I’ve called a few and do have one that I am satisfied will do a great job. He is presently in the process of engaging the customer to make arrangements for these touch ups. My business would not have all of the 5-star reviews, if I was the person this lady suggests I am. My hope is that she is happy in the end.
