I gave them my boat to reupholster. They told me two weeks, I tried reaching out and nothing. Showed up two weeks later my boat was in a non covered area (he said it would be covered) ruined a $300 battery starter. It’s now been two more weeks and can’t get ahold of the man. I am in medical field and we know the significance of reviews. I am a very tolerant person and rather than writing a bad review and slandering a business, I just move on but in this case and seeing this repetitive behavior, I think it's about time we review the " Derby City Upholstery" and save other community members from making the same mistakes as we did. We have worked with this guy in the past by letting him reupholster couple of our medical exam tables including covers for our home patio furniture. Even though we weren't happy with his work, we decided to give him another chance, this time reupholstering the 30 chairs at our medical office to which he agreed and took close to $3000 as a deposit for the job. For several months (over 4 months) he kept making excuses, so we were really got worried we will never see the deposit back but some how, we MANAGED to (didn't feel necessary reviewing him back than, should have though) Since he sounded like a nice guy, I gave him another chance (shame on me) by having him re work the patio covers he made, (stitching's started coming apart) and to make a custom cover for the recently bought treadmill, to which he agreed and took the covers along with the 2 cushions. Once again it's been several months and I am still waiting to hear back from him and he doesn't answers his phone calls either. If I had other options, I would have have never used this guy but unfortunately, there aren't many reupholstering options out there. He seems like a nice guy, so he gets the job but considering how expensive he is, his work is so so, definately not worth what he charges. Since it seems like a repetitive pattern, i decided to write this review. Wonder why he hasn't returned my calls and close to 3 months later, why he still hasn't brought my covers/cushions back yet. Seeing how his shop responds to his reviews, would love to see what he has to say here ( where are my cushions and the covers)? Please be careful dealing with this guy.Initial Complaint

THE OWNER IS A SHYSTER, SCAMMER DOES HORRIBLE WORK!!! He upholstered my car headliner in January 2023, and it has been a COMPLETE NIGHTMARE for months. First, he said it would take 1.5 hours to complete, it took over 3 hours and I waited the whole 3 hours. I could tell immediately it was not good quality work as it had dimples in it and **** said they would smooth out over time which it has not . Then he did not re-install the 2 small lights in the headliner correctly nor did he re-install the small, round disks near the back window so there were these perfectly round divots that did not look right. He made an appointment with me 6 different times to come to my work to make repairs and NEVER showed up nor called to cancel. Then when he did show up he only fixed 1 of the 2 headliner lights, and he had to come out a 2nd time, even though I told him ahead of time both were not installed correctly. When he repaired the passenger light he did not reconnect the wires, so I had to take it to mechanic to have it repaired. I know he did this on purpose! Then he had to come out another time to install those missing plastic round discs and only agreed to install them after I asked questioned him about it? He also put 2 dents on the roof of my car from the inside so whatever tools he used caused these 2 dents, and it is very evident the damage was caused from the inside of the car. Now the headliner is coming unglued, falling down, and he refuses to honor the 1 year warranty. At this point, I do not want him to touch my car ever again!!! I WANT A FULL REFUND SO I CAN GO TO A REPUTABLE UPHOLSTERY COMPANY!! Please see attached photos confirming what I am saying to be true.Business response

The business states that it was hired by *** * ***** to install an aftermarket headliner in the complainant's vehicle. The business states the customer expressed satisfaction when she picked up her vehicle after the headliner was installed. The business contends it made every reasonable effort to satisfy the complainant. The business states that any refund request or any further communication should be directed to *** * *****. The business states that it will not be performing any further work for the complainant.Customer response

Complaint: ********I am rejecting this response because: First, why is your response written as if you are an attorney, calling me a complainant and yourself the business? *** * ***** paid you to replace my headliner because one of their technicians got oil on my headliner while changing my oil. They recommended you to do the work. YOU AND YOU ALONE are responsible for YOUR LOUSY work and no one else. You have not made ANY reasonable effort to make this right, and I have proof through recorded phone calls and texts. As stated previously, I do not want you touching my car ever again. At this point, I am taking you to smalls claims court as this has been a nightmare I have been dealing with for 8 months now. Every time I get in my car I am reminded of your nasty work. I WANT A REFUND!!
