I purchased a 2018 Toyota RAV HYBRID on February 21st. I drove it for 8 days and I started having issues. The car wouldn’t let me drive it a foot without completely shutting off on me and throwing a bunch of different codes on the dashboard. I call the dealership and explain what’s happening. Sales guy says it sounds like a voltage issue. I go and buy a $250 battery, that wasn’t the issue. They say bring it in. I tow it to the shop, money out of my pocket because I was told my warranty doesn’t come into effect for 30 days. Claim I “put the battery in wrong” and that they fixed it. I drive it off the lot, try to drive it the next morning and it’s doing the same thing. I get it towed to the dealership, AGAIN. Again, money out of my pocket towards a vehicle I have only got to drive for 8 days. They said they were short staffed and they would look at it when they got the chance. A month and a half goes by. Not one word from the dealership, so I take it upon myself to give them a call. I’ve been dealing with one of the managers, Wade this entire time, told me he would handle everything. He tells me that they’re going to buy me out of my car, that it isn’t fixable and it’s the “right thing to do.” So after work, I pack my son up and we go to the dealership. Wait for 2 hours to only be told by another manager, Bill, that “they don’t owe me anything” and that they will not be buying me out of my car. That they have thousands of customers that they deal with a month and they don’t “have time” to deal with this. They refuse to tell me what’s wrong with the vehicle, refuse to give me the service report, refuse to even tell me if my warranty covers what is wrong with the car. So tonight I have been dragged around, lied to, belittled in front of a lobby full of customers, as well as my son, and was made to believe that the money I put down ($7,000) is nothing. I worked hard, HARD to be able to try and afford something reliable for me and my son, to only get treated like this.
