September 25th 2021 entered contract, placed 7,700.00 deposit for materials with ***** ********* of Cumberland Construction for home remodel projects. The work was to begin by ***** ********** **** ********* within two weeks. Work was never started timely and we were given many excuses as to delays. We were asked to continue to wait and made promises week after week they would show up to start the job and this went on for 2-3 months. In late November 2021 the work had still not been started, and no materials had been delivered, so we requested a refund of the deposit to be returned. At this time ***** ********* turned hostile, made threats and then cut off all communication. We also caught ***** ********* lies saying she had ordered custom doors that had been stored in **** ********** work van when it broke down. When we asked about a refund minus the cost of the doors we asked if we could pick up the doors and store them in the basement until spring when **** ********* and ***** ********* could get around to doing the work we realized the doors had not been ordered as we had previously been told. They refused the refund of the deposit, then **** ********* came to our house asked for 3,000 more and promised to complete the work by Christmas 2021. He sent a man by the name of ******* to tear out the stair case to basement, and caused damage to our home and then disappeared again for 3 weeks leaving us with no access to the basement. Two sliding barn doors were installed of sub par material not what we agreed upon by the pictures provided of what we wanted. Other doors were left in place and the door project was not completed and door facing and walls were damaged in the process of installation. We pointed this out to **** and he did nothing to fix it. The book case door was never deliver or installed, the stair case was built in a unsafe manner with sub par materials, not what was agreed upon and not completed. ***** and **** cut off all communication.
