In July 2021, To pressure wash and stain my deck Paint the upper portion of my house (not including windows) Replace a portion of fascia over deck Add 3 vents in fascia, 1 in back and 2 in front of house Paid $5200 His pressure washing splintered the wood and the stain was red instead of brown. Painter was instructed by ***** to re-do the work. Further deterioration of the wood resulted, and the stain ended up a sticky mess and still not the right color. They put a hole in my screened porch (leaned a ladder on screen). ***** returned from out of town and said the work was unacceptable. He said they could re-do the work; with an extra $1000 he could replace wood flooring (did not include labor); or reimburse a portion of payment. He said think about it and call him. My son called him several times, no answer and he did not return calls. The paint job was done without preparing the wood. My house is 70 years old and wood needed to be sanded. ***** said the cracks in wood were the natural grain of the wood after saying it would be beautiful. They did not add the two vents in front of house. I had the deck torn down and re-built and had the screened porch re-screened.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 10, 2022/05/04) */ The consumer picked the color and the business put that down. The business didn't pick the color. The business offered to wash it off, and the consumer could pick another color. The deck was already old. The business suggested she replace the desk. After the second time of redoing the deck, the consumer was still not happy. The stain did take on the second time. Consumer Response /* (3000, 12, 2022/05/10) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Business Owner's response only related to color choice. I had given him a skirt board to go to ******* ******** on Regency Rd to match stain color for accuracy. However, My Original meeting with business owner, I requested for him to replace the top boards of my aging deck. His response was that he could pressure wash and stain and get a couple more years use out of the deck. I went with his opinion in good faith. Work was performed by unsupervised employee who indicated to me that he couldn't believe the business owner had left this job to him and that he had only worked for business owner for a couple weeks. Business owner met my son after work was completed at our request given the damage done. In Business owners' own words, the work (deck work)was not near satisfactory and he would make it right. He provided us 3 options for remedy at that meeting. Those options were: 1. He would re-pressure wash deck. This option didn't make any sense because the damage that was done would not be corrected by another pressure wash. His worker had blistered the deck with a pressure washer and left significant damage to the deck. It was a very old to begin with but areas all over the deck had damage where the pressure washer ate into deck boards and railings. Simply re-doing a pressure wash job was not going to fix this type of damage. 2. He offered within 2 days to replace the damaged boards/railings at no labor cost given the poor work previously performed if we paid for the wood approximately $1000. This was a little better remedy but at this point our confidence in his work was not sufficient to move forward especially since he refused to do this from the very beginning. We might have chosen this if he had not given us a third option. 3. He offered to refund $2600 us for the damage. This is the option we chose so we could get something towards to corrective measures needed. We asked for an additional $300 to also cover the holes that were also blown open in my screened in porch just off the deck. From that point on we never heard back from business owner and forced to fix the deck ourselves using another contractor. If $2600 had been provided we would at least feel like he owned up to his Company's mistakes.
